Osamu Tezuka's Experimental Animations

I am going to order this DVD containing all of Osamu Tezuka's Experimental Animations.

I was wondering if any fansub groups would be interested subbing these shorts. The combined run time of all them is 152 minutes. However, a few of them don't have any dialogue. Many of these shorts also won multiple awards.

The DVD contains:

Tales of a Street Corner- 1962 - 38 minutes

Male - 1962 - 2 minutes 3 seconds

Memory- 1964 - 5 minutes 13 seconds

Mermaid - 1964 - 8 minutes 18 seconds

Drop - 1965 - 4 minutes 17 seconds

Cigarettes and Ashes - 1965 - 3 minutes 15 seconds

Pictures at an Exhibition - 1966 - 39 minutes

Genesis - 1968 - 3 minutes 42 seconds

Jumping - 1984 - 6 minutes 20 seconds

Broken Down Film - 1985 - 5 minutes 37 seconds

Push - 1987 - 4 minutes 18 seconds

The Legend of the Forest: Part - 1 - 1987 - 29 minutes 20 seconds

MURAMASA - 1987 - 8 minutes 44 seconds

Are you capable of ripping the DVD? I'd love to check out the raw if you can!

I've wanted to do something with Tezuka ever since I visited the museum in his honor *_*

I could do them, but my translations would not do proper justice to Tezuka.

Yeah, I was planning on ripping the DVD. I just wanted to make sure a few people were interested before I spent $70 including shipping for one DVD.

First, this Experimental Anime site has some nice clips of everything that's on that DVD.

Second, I am now greatly interested in Tales of a Street Corner and would very much like the raw ^^;

I still plan on buying this DVD. I am just a little low on money at the moment. Anyone know any other places to buy R2 DVDs besides CDJapan, YesAsia, and AMO?

I would be willing to sub these. The problem is that I don't have a translator. I'm with #st-law@anime.mircx.com. I could though do a dvd rip release of the shorts via my group and we could add a little advertisement to them saying that we need translators for the dialogue ones.

Which shorts of the list don't have any spoken dialogue? (I could probably get people to translate ones with written dialogue).

I really like tezuka's manga particularly Phoenix... I hope these shorts see the light of day... though it seems that many fansubbers tend to be more interested in subbing the same 10 tv series and never branching beyond that :P. What a waste of such a valuable commodity like translators

I am very interested in seeing these too...

And neilworms, the Phoenix manga you speak of, is it "Hi no Tori"? Because if I"m not wrong that's being animated on Japanese TV VERY soon.

Sorry to answer for him, but Hi no Tori is indeed Phoenix, and it is being animated on Japanese TV very soon. I believe it starts in April. My hopes are quite high for it.

Yes I am interested in seeing the TV show also... but the manga is fantastic. Its out in the US right now... I HIGHLY recommend reading it . The TV show has a high standard of quality to reach if it comes near the manga.
