anyway i hope that the garra dedria fight will pick up and be something besides exploding birds that seem to do no damage and garras horrible depth peception where he tries the same attack for 30 mins without a hit

Ummm...not to be a "wet blanket" or anything, but FYI, you guys should know that there will AGAIN be no Naruto next week, with Episode 6-7 airing on March 29as a 1-hour special.

So, please hold onto your stock, "Can't wait for next week!" comments!

My take on Episode 5: the Gaara vs. Deidara fight may STILL not be over, and we'll be stuck with flashbacks galore...remember, the Episode title is, "As the Kazekage...", so we may get to see HOW Gaara became Kazekage, and the "responsibilites" he shoulders with the titles, and of course, how "Naruto's words" have affected his outlook in life blah blah...

I want to see how the other Konoha kids look like now. Like Rock Lee

I wonder if Naruto will have to take the chunin exam now. He seems rather weak though, but not worse than before...

I had hoped for it to be 1 hour special too but unfortunatly its not

. However after episode 5 is aired, next week no naruto again. Then on 29th we have an hour special for episode 6 and 7 .

Also Naruto is probably really strong. In episode 1 , Jiraya warned Kakashi if he take naruto lightly he will get crushed.

Spoiler for Episode 5, first impression, a.k.a. filler report.:

The Gaara vs Deidara fight starts out with some more filler, before the intro starts. Gaara "appearently" captures Deidara in a big ball of sand, and the sand jounins of course think it's over. All of a sudden Deidara blows his way out (didn't know he was immune to explosions) only to have Gaara capture him with sand and fling him around. The sand is "annoying" according to Deidara.

Cut to the bell test (I thought the scene was over but we're not that lucky). Tsunade comes and tells them Naruto and Sakura are now going to perform missions together with Kakashi.

Back at the sand. Some sand jounins who are appearantly half blind can't see the big ball of sand in the air and asks Kankurou where Gaara is (he points at the big ball). Then Gaara takes Deidara's arm but the scene is so drawn out and weird compared to the manga I don't even know where to begin. Then we get Deidara's analysis of Gaara and he prepares a big bomb for the village (pretty much like the manga).

Poor Sasori is still waiting and laments about it. Finally some good music as Gaara's sand chases Deidara around a little. Stops in a moment though. Baki comments that if Gaara goes crazy the village is in danger, but Kankurou comments that Gaara won't do that like he did before. Cut to a flashback Gaara Kankurou flashback. I don't remember the dialogue word for word from the manga but the flashback seemed much longer than I remember it. Still a nice scene though.

Back at konohagakure. Kakashi brags about a new jutsu he has made. Naruto and Sakura run off for ramen and Jiraiya talks a bit with Kakashi (he turns Naruto over to him), then Kakashi dissapears, much to the joy of Naruto who gets to eat with Sakura all alone (gets to treat too though, and wasn't glad about it).

Back at sand for some more filler. All the sand ninjas, trying to support their kazekage, pick up weapons and stand looking at Deidara in the sky (yes true). The episode ends as Deidara finally launches his bomb at the village.

What, did you honestly think the fight would end in this episode?

I'm sad to say the Deidara fight doesn't pick up at all, and still (except for one scene) the music was all but absent. The incessive cutting between the two villages didn't help.

Aww, the pace (read filler) is really killing it for me. What should be quick and exciting strategic battles between ninja's is just a drawn out soap show style montage of what appears to be a fight....

-Geez we wait this long and this is all we get? Come on, I know the Naruto people want to make sure not to catch-up to the manga very quickly again but this is driving me nuts. Well, maybe it'll pick up soon...

Screenshot for Episode 5: Since I'm too busy to complain at the moment, I'll just keep it short. Have given this episode a 5.8 and will round it up to a 6. The episode didn't go anywhere, so to speak. I felt restless as I was watching this episode. I kept reminding myself that this was better than filler, so I could go through with the episode. The music is still solid, but that's about it. Kankuro's reminscent of a changed Gaara and his heartfelt words were the highlight of this episode. The music was very good at that moment as well which is why I'm giving this episode a 6. As for the fight scenes, I'm starting to wish for a no-fight episode already.

im kinda dissapointed.. that episode wasn't really what i expected

what really gets to me is that yet again we have to skip ANOTHER week of naruto than we get a 1 hour special, that doesn't even make up for the 2 lost episodes

ugh they better make this worth our time, i've had to spend the last week etc. watching old old naruto episodes jsut to keep myself entertained -.-

What' up with the wierd animations ? it started right after Shipudden 1&2 , i'm not referring to the art/design , but to the way they move , their really badly animated... missing frames or moving ankwardly

(etc. like a few episodes earlier when gara was jumping on the floating sand and kakashi throwing the shurikens at naruto

Animations' still pretty substandard, story moves painfully slow. Givin it a 4-ish, atleast with Bleach they cranked up teh quality when they came back from filler, I'ma stick to the manga for this series.

Hahaha, this is incredible. 5 episodes into Shippuden and they have covered less than 5 chapters of material. And in that time they've also missed two weeks. At this rate there was no need for any filler at all; what are they thinking?

Much better episode than the last two episdes. I doubt they'll be able to keep making Shippuden as good with the current pacing...can't hurt to hope I suppose.

Did anyone else laugh out loud when it showed Sasori still complaining in the same spot he's been in since entering the village? I can't believe the anime team turned a member of Atasuki into a comical character.

that'ss what Naruto Shippuuden is, except ep1&2.

This episode was REALLY REALLY boring!

Nothing happened at all, AGAIN!

Animations are at same level as fillers.

BGM is good, hooooraay!!!

I think I'm gonna stick to the anime a few more week, and if it hasn't gotten better, I'll start reading the manga, cause this isn't what I've been waiting for, for almost 2 years.

Its like watching fillers, there no feeling to this anime anymore, everything is just lame.

At least when I read the manga i can imagine how awesome it could have looked.
When I watch the anime I just wanna turn it off and watch something else.

This is like Sunset Beach, you can miss about 7 eps and you won't miss anything.
(yeah, flame me, I watched some of it when I was younger ^^)

Not sure why people hate this episode as much as the last two... I found it much more entertaining. It's kinda odd to disagree with the Shippuden hate mob for the first time.

My only hope is that they store some resources up for special fights etc. so now that they have made 3 extremely poor episodes, maybe the can make something decent out of the 1 hour special in 2 weeks.

At least I have my Bleach, which is even better than before the fillers. I was hoping for the same with Naruto...
