I always wonder why many people think that he's a chief director in 2006 Haruhi, when actually he's not.

It's not about needing him as an excuse. It's just that whenever an anime series goes through very noticeable art changes like this, the first thing you'd probably look at is which key members of the original art staff are still there. And if somebody moved on... it kind of makes sense to consider the lack of that person's influence as a possible cause for the art changes, doncha' think?

Yamakan had little to do with Haruhi '06 other than offering his creative drive. He was, indeed, the man behind Live Alive and Hare Hare Yukai, but...

I will agree that correlation does not equal causation... but what other theories are there for the extreme shift in art style?

a) It's been three years, and

b) When Yamakan left, several of the animators did too, to form Studio Ordet.

Of course, Ordet's Kannagi looks a hell of a lot like K-On, so that probably isn't the only reason why.

...Amusingly, when I first watched Kannagi, guess what the art style reminded me of?

Haruhi.

Haruhi.
I also thought this. For example the opening of Kannagi tried something Haruhi-like. Furthermore, the whole fluid animations and detailed backgrounds looked like a KyoAni show and also the selection of this manga with a goddess as main character also sounds like somebody tried to do something like Haruhi. It's certainly more Haruhi than other goddess shows like Oh My Goddess^^. Ok, the story of Haruhi is whole other goddess approach in comaprison to Kannagi but it's a strange coincidence...

I really like Kannagi but it's certainly the show of another studio that looks like Haruhi-style in the last few years. By the way, isn't Kannagi still a A-1 Pictures
production?

Haruhi 2009 looks differently and feels differently but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. For example I like the new opening more than the old one.^^ And I also enjoy the episodes themselves so I can live with the change.

A-1 and Ordet collaboration. It was directed by Yamakan, and there's a few subtle digs at KyoAni.

Hu, I beg to differ, it felt A LOT more like AMG than Haruhi.
Though I agree that the very fluid animation and the overall quality made it look like much a KyoAni serie. I suppose KyoAni lost quite a bit of talent with the departure of the group.

"subtle" isn't what I would call the "fan interview". Though it was funny as hell

I definitely have to say that Super Driver is an awesome opening. It really grows on you, and it's just such a
pulse-pounding opening. This is something I'll give to the 2009 Haruhi team.

Haruhi 2006's opening was pretty good, but I'd tend to skip over it after I've seen it a few times. With Super Driver... I genuinely enjoy watching it along with every episode.

Indeed, Super Driver grew on me rapidly. I find it more catchy than the first opening.

Same here.

Question: Who's the girl in your sig, and where can I meet her?

She might be the best cosplay bunny girl Haruhi I've seen!

I liked both opening songs, though Super Driver is a bit better to me. I always find it amusing when you see everyone running through all that technobabble.

I also liked this season's ending song better too. Hare Hare Yukai is probably my least favorite Haruhi song (don't shoot me! )

Much like Carmel Dansen (Sp?), I've simply heard/seen so much Hare Hare Yukai at this point (copied in so many different ways) that the charm of it is completely lost on me. I found it awesome in the early days of this anime, though.

Neat. A top-notch Haruhi cosplayer with Sailor Moon's name as her real name.

After watching it again I too wondered why there were so many burn spots on Yuki's hand, should have only been like two.

Also haruhi said something that made me wonder about BLR, she said that Isuki's uniform was quite common, especially the blazer, and that It could belong to any number of schools, how then did young Haruhi, recognize Kyon as being in a North High uniform, when he wasn't even wearing the blazer?

Perhaps she recognized the uniform worn by his "sister..."

Well, she did do the whole flying tackle assault on Mikuru. Poor Mikuru was probably just trying to defend herself. Little blue graphic aside, that's probably when Yuki got the extra burns.

Well, he was wearing the correct shirt, tie, and slacks. And he was also carrying an unconscious time-traveling moeblob who was wearing what is unmistakably a North High uniform.

I figures the shirt and slacks would be even more generic, never thought of the Mikuru angle though,
