I always wondered why so many companies avoid placing the male lead on things like that. I mean, he's a huge part of the show, he should at least play a small part in the advertising.

Is he really a zombie? Zombie do not eat normal stuff, they eat brains and more brains...

I guess he is considered as undead or edo tensei?

Yeah, I suppose that's the most likely reason.
He is, as far as I can tell, not on any promo images. I just find it odd considering anyone who decides to watch the show will be seeing a lot of him. They could at least squeeze him in the back of an ad or something.

The male leads may be a huge part of their respective shows, but at the same time, they're an incredibly tiny part of the reason people watch these kind of shows.

Although in Kore wa Zombie desu ka's case, I think it would have been funny to release a sexy poster of Ayumu in Maso shoujo attire.

There are more types of zombies than the one you described. You merely listed the popular version.

Also don't forget that the main character himself during the preview scene says he isn't really a zombie. Masou Shoujo girl agrees that he is just undead.

There's nothing you can say really when undead is involved, since there many types of undead that you will not figure out

but when he got hit by the truck he did say he was a zombie.. So is he going against what he said during the preview scene then?

He's probably going against what he said in the actual episode. It's probably one of those, "Technically, I'm not a zombie, but it's a hassle to explain and everyone gets what I mean," things.

Lots of whacky humour (e.g. magical girl with a chainsaw), and a good portion of fanservice on top of it. Definitely will keep watching this!

That's probably why the title is "Is this a zombie?", as it has some of it's properties (e.g. undead), but not all. Going by the tvtropes site, it would be most like the "Revenant" type.
