Not much to discuss so far aside from the crazyness. I'm sure episode 2-3 are going to slowly explain the setting and introduce more weirdness.

Monogatari was weird but everyone loved it.

Yet, we found something with similar features and its weirder than Monogatari... Do we expect it to be love more?

I guess...

I guess so....

I think so....

I had a good idea of what I signed up for when I sat down and watched this show, given by the strange premise and SHAFT animating the whole thing. But this was a whole new level of weird altogether. Seriously, just what the heck?

Now, the apparently some kind grand narrative behind all the insanity we've seen so far. There's no way that Shinbo would throw out that chocolate invasion scene if there wasn't any good reason behind it... Right?

As for everything else, I still need time to wrap my head around this thing. The most I can say is that older brother of hers is damn sleazy. Pretty disgusting.

Don't understand the choice to use the hand-bag-for-the-head-onii-san design. I mean, they could just go without a face for that character, but the current design is annoying as hell. Otherwise, great show. I just hope that they have enough budget for the rest of season.

He doesn't have a handbag for a head, he's just constantly covering his face with whatever objects happen to be available. He uses a folding fan in the opening, for example.

For some reason this reminded me a little bit of Arakawa Under the Bridge. I think I have my unusual, absurd, but oddly stylish anime for the season.

I felt silly that I didn't notice the whole bit about Tsurugi, Kagami, Tama, Tsukiyomi, etc. It was obvious once someone pointed it out.

So....why does the brother use a briefcase in this case to cover his head? Is he going to do that the whole series?

And....what is the plot of this show?

He uses anything available to cover his face. It seems we are never meant to see his face. It is very likely that will continue throughout the whole series, yes.

...You want to know the plot of one of Shinbo's "this was totally made on drugs" shows after only one episode? Beyond the possible links to Shinto myths some of us have speculated about on the last few pages, nobody has any idea. How the heck could we know after only one episode that was completely insane? Even if most of the stuff in here is actually symbolic we're going to need more context before we can actually start making sense of it.

So apparently the characters in this series are parodies of Japanese Deities.

When you put it like that, a lot of things start to make sense... Sort of.

More SHAFT crazies mean that I'm also on the bandwagon for this one. The first episode was just one giant medicine ball of madness, yet managed to keep me entertained. I still can't get used to the onii-chan's voice though (lol Jiraiya).
