No comment, I still have a brand from the last time I babbled about an MFI product

(still waiting for MFI to make good on R1 releases for Petopetosan and Chocosis..... eh? eh?)

Heh -- I do definitely think they're better shows than people give them credit for, but yeah... if there were a list of "least likely to be licensed"...

Hopefully everyone's experience will be censor-free from here on out (since there's no great reason for otherwise at this point).

I've never actually seen Petopetosan, but I would be all over Chocosis if it ever (unlikely!) got licenced in the US. Just one of a number of series (including Marimite, Otoboku, REC) I would love to give someone my hard-earned money for, if only someone would take it!

Actually, they just recently released some new stuff, and they are three chapters into volume 6 right now.

This is off-topic to the thread (so further comment should really be made in the Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru thread but Otoboku (which I assume is Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru) has already been licensed by Media Blasters.

But like others here, I would also be surprised if Chokotto Sister ever sees an American release.

the Chokotto manga has been looked at a few time for licensing, but has been passed over on all occasions by TokyoPop

Though in really good news Glass Mask fans may be getting our wish granted soon, since TokyoPop is considering it for license

Shame on you! Petopeto-San is a galactic powerhouse of all-encompassing wondefulness, right down to its OP and ED.

aye... mdabuen seriously must correct that cultural gap

All these series would be great candidates for a micro-distribution (sub-only) business model as a substitute for the lumbering "big release" wide spectrum model.

For some reason Wikipedia says that Chocotto Sister has been lisenced by MEdia Blasters, but we are not sure if it's try or not.

MFI claims ChocoSis and because of their C&D to AnimeSuki a couple of years back --- no one may mention or give linkage to any copyright infringing activities (e.g. subbing) relating to any series they own rights to. Visit the AS rules and licensed materials forums for more explicit details.
Any series under that umbrella gets an "(MFI)" placed at the front of the thread title so its easier not to trip up.

My problem with MFI is that they asserted their rights as they are allowed to do... but are just sitting on a bunch of properties with apparently no intention of ever releasing them in the R1 region. Just one of the many problems with the current state of affairs in the copyright/creativecommons debate.

Done, and well worth it. Thanks for giving me the nudge!

Hmmmm... that would indeed be good news (assuming that the person who edited the wiki entry didn't just confuse Media Blasters with Media Factory). <fingers crossed>

This is false. It's not on any websites, including the Media Blasters website, AnimeOnDVD, ANN, or any other reputable source. I think they did get it confused with MediaFactory. I removed the line from Wikipedia.

Man, I'll never look at a banana the same way again. That was just so...wrong.

EDIT: As it turns out, there's actually an action figure with Choco eating the banana! Japan is a very, very special country...

One of the slowest subs ever, but nevertheless the work is appreciated. Every time I've totally forgotten about this series another ep pops up and I remember just how very, very wrong this show is. This time we find out that "Yuri" is an aptly named character...

Nothing can top the frozen banana though.

Guardian, this is no where near the slowest sub Glass Mask 2005 probably holds that, though Nadja is giving it a run for it's money.

This is being released on average of 1 episode a month, which isn't to bad, considering.

Oh, I know - it just feels that way. It has been about two months since 16, though...

Nonetheless, a small portion of my brain is spinning in its chair. I visit the "room" occasionally to see if there are any updates.
