I can't imagine the pikachu as being anything other than deadpool in some weird disguise (which he will suddenly burst out of at some point).

Some of the texturing/fur/etc I find rather weird, but I can deal with it.

I can't believe people hating on this so hard around the internet. It's supposed to be a fun kids movie and treating it like it's a sin that "it's nothing like the anime" which I find silly because WB didn't set out to make it that way in the first place.

This will be either really good or really bad. But I'm intrigued. The setting is fine by me. It's set within a pokemon world. Being a trainer is clearly a thing that people still do there.

Heck I'm just going to make it so Thanos finger-snapped Deadpool into Pokemon universe and turned him into a pikachu. It's the only thing that makes sense.

We have a few new Pokemon entries in the second trailer: Ludicolo, Eevee, Golurk, Snubbull, Snorlax (sleeping at an intersection), Machamp (doing traffic control), Lickitung, Cubone, Blastoise, Aipom, and... Mewtwo.

edit: The song in the trailer is worth revisiting if you're a fan of 80's songs. It was Bonnie Tyler's Holding Out for a Hero.

Yeah well people are more familiar with Gen 1 than they are with later Gens. If you want your story to be successful you make it accessible and inclusive to as many types of people as possible, including those that have only ever played the first gen games.

They're obviously intending to broaden the appeal of Pokemon.

^I don't share the same train of thought, especially not when gen 1 is crammed into everything at every turn. Just give it a rest for a while and focus on new stuff (and let the genwunners complaint all they want), I don't need to see yet another thing where the canon has to be broken to fit in fanservice (for example, at this point mewtwo's background has been bastardized to hell and back just for the sake of fanservice to the point the he doesn't feel as special as he should).

With that said, the movie does look like it has a chance of being good.
