B: The Beginning

Looks like Production I.G. is doing an anime original series for Netflix

Director: Kazuto Nakazawa

Synopsis: The 12-episode series is set in the future where scientists have tried to create the “perfect human” in hopes of keeping peace in the universe. After nearly achieving their goal through several children, the scientists send their “new humans” for further training where they are kidnapped by an evil organization set on using their powers to implement their own concept of a new world order.

It's out! Less than an episode in and it looks amazing. Fluid animation, great action scenes, and all oozing plenty of character and chemistry. Lily is easily Need for Speed-tier.

Netflix is going hard on anime!!! First Devilman and now this fantastic series. It's a rare sight to have a sci-fi/fantasy story without being polluted by fanservice, moe and otaku oriented bs these days. I like some of those too, but the market is way too saturated with the same thing. I'm really happy to see anime being more diverse and with such high production values. Seriously, the animation is insane. Not only in the action scenes but also in the backgrounds and in the character's movements. 12 episodes of pure greatness!

I liked the story too. Largely because of the main characters. Genie, Koku and Lily had plenty of chemistry and cool personalities. Boris was funny too. No romantic triangles or shippings to bait the wrong audience either, just something faithful to it's genre. A mystery thriller regarding a shady organization and Genie and Koku's past. Not the greatest or the most original plot ever but it was fun. It was a shame they didn't focused a bit more regarding the origins of the ancient "divine" bones tho. Maybe in the season 2? Anyway, it looks like i can trust in Netflix to deliver quality old school anime. I will follow every new show from them for now on.

Definitely a strong entry by Netflix. Season 2 guaranteed, but seriously I have to say they really are fond of the hidden mastermind trope. The fact that Koku never got the other eye is gonna be a sore spot for me for the next week, but I guess it was the only way to break the prophecy. Hopefully season 2 will give us more Yuna, who was nothing more than a damsel in distress for the entire season.

Just like @bakato, Ep01 was enough to make me want to binge-watch the whole season. And that Season2 hint...just bring it on!
I'm not sure what may come next, since Koku's and Keith's personal arcs seemed to be as much as done with. Gotta wait and see.

Did they release the entire thing? I typically DO NOT do Netflix binges like you normal people.

Yes, the 12 episodes are already available to watch. No need to force yourself to binge-watch the whole season tho xD. I personally had the time and couldn't stop watching it, so it kinda happened..lol

I binged watch the series too, it was incredible!
I loved the music and the background writing about each character's thoughts. Keith's and Koku's characters were really interesting.

I really hope there's a season 2, because I want to see more of Yuna's character.

I was skeptical about binging too, but in hindsight I can’t even imagine having to wait a week between episodes for this.

For the record, can we all make an agreement here like we did in the Devilman thread and keep spoilers in spoiler tags? Not directed at anyone, I just thought it worked reasonably well in the Devilman thread.

So I take it we're talking about Netflix Japan and not Netflix North America?

The version I watched was dual-audio, with subs in a handful of different languages.

You can watch it in Europe, so likely in NA too.

This was...bad. Another case of a rotten carcass in a shiny wrapper. It looks and sounds great, but the story is an illogical mess and painful to watch.
