IIRC he got himself killed on purpose, so as to make sure his daughter profits from his life insurance. Part of the plan was replacing the blanks on Graham's rifle with live ammunition during their mock duel.

Never heard anything like that. Didn't he want Graham to marry his daughter or something? Never heard anything to indicate that he wanted to pull a Billy Loman.

He wanted Graham to marry his daughter, but Graham refused. And being of limited financial stature he wanted to give his daughter money she needed.

During the simulation battle between Graham's Flag and Sletcher's Blast, Sletcher, knowing that the Blast is inferior and holds no chances of winning, he performs a kamikaze attack on Graham, cutting his wings off, but crashing himself onto the ground.

Even though the Blast wasn't commssioned as the next mainstay unit, the life insurance payout from Sletcher's death was enough to sustain his daughter.

Alright, that's seriously cracked. Which means I'm going to have to use it in a what-if, sooner rather than later.

Hm, how to do it...

Graham getting married, and the tragedy never happening? Or he does kill him with the live rounds, and the fallout and disgrace gets Graham booted from the military? Maybe a mixture? (Graham marries, happy honeymoon, but the live ammo swap has already been arranged but Sletcher forgets in his joy?)

You know, that could actually sort of work as a 'Graham is scouted by Celestial Being' scenario...

Ian Vashti, who was in charge of design kept in mind the “Seven Sword” of the Exia and actually referred to the Cherudim as the “Seven Gun” because of the number of guns it has in the development code. For close range combat, it is equipped with a crystal sensor in its head. Abandoning GN Shield Bits because they are unsuitable for battles in small areas, it instead carries a convenient GN Small Shield. On it’s back it has a GN Drive and added armor to make up for the lack of GN Shield Bits. The top section contains a GN Missile container.
