Fuu, I missed the actual episode, but at least got to see the OP...

It was nice, but nothing exciting. Plenty of Louise x Saito, and Louise attacking Saito...
Not sure, but I think the flying ship in the OP is Ostrant...
I liked the shot of the guys (Undine) and girls (Beatrice and gang, Siesta, etc.).

Saito looks as cool as ever.

No spoilers but overall:

-Kirche (sp) voice sounded a little odd
-Artwork seemed a bit off
-The whole tsundere thing's been overdone with Kugyu (2 seasons of Shana and 2 seasons of Zero)...it feels like it's time for her to move onto other things; her performance in a tsundere role has generally been good, but with it being more deredere now, it feels like her voice acting is rather sub-par compared to the other big names out there.

Content-wise, it didn't hook me much and the antics were anything but good...seriously the only thing I really enjoyed was Siesta's flag breaking scene before the OP roll.

Siesta's a decendant from the same world Saito's from...I would think that right there would put some connection between the 2.

I am talking about emotional connection rather than just being from the same place...

I mean if you are american do you really feel a strong link between you and another person who is from america even if you meet him on allien country? Hardly, some closiness exist but not emotional-personal connection and Siesta doesn't have one with saito nor she does with Louise. Her character has been horribly pathetic so far. Though I am Louise fan first it is painful to look at what they do to Siesta in anime.

Well, I'm native Japanese and i DO feel a strong link with other native Japanese that I meet in the states which opens up opportunities for communications to improve relations with that person, not just on a superficial level...so I wouldn't discount that right away. A good number of my native Japanese friends would say the same as well.

The sheer number of Japanese expats, when compared to those of other asian nationalities is quite low so, you start off with a rare(er?) commonality with other natives.

So? Lithiuaian number is even smaller and I can guarantee I dont feel much emotion wise when I meet other Lithuanian outside the country, there is closeness more than meeting stranger but it is still not enough to make the link personal.

To make it personal you need to communicate and know each other and Siesta though took bath together with Saito cannot say she has a strong link, plus she doesn't even understand this link (that Saito might understand better). even less connection she has with Louise , come on they barely talk with each other and that yuri fanservice scene in season 2 barely count as a something that could establish a personal connection between the two. Siesta gets shafted away from the two main leads and thus gets shafted away from the plot itself as plot is connected strongly to Saito and Louise.

uh...saito went to rescue siesta when she was hauled off in S1....i would think that would count for SOMETHING.

sounds like a huge cultural difference to me between Japanese and Lithuanians more than anything. /shrug

In S1... Now compare Siesta in S1 and in S2 they are like different people out there the connection that she had with Saito from S1 is bit different now as her personality (like Saito's personality as he is turned mostly in a pervert whose main purpose seems to be getting into ones pants through most of the time) is changed.

Plus the act of Saito can be an act of general kindness rather than something really personal. he and Siesta barely talks and thats where the real relationship is build up rather than through one time heroic acts.
