St Valentine 'not saint of love'

Westminster, Britain (Feb 13): Britain's Roman Catholic Church is advising lovelorn singles to direct their February 14 requests for love to St Raphael, rather than St Valentine.

Over the years St Valentine has come to be incorrectly associated with finding love, the Church says. He is the patron saint for those who have already found their soulmate. St Raphael is the patron saint for happy encounters and it is to him those fearing the Valentine's post should properly direct their prayers.

Ms Clare Ward, spokeswoman for the Catholic Enquiry Office, the official body providing information on Catholic life, said that while the distinction between the saints has always been clear within the Church it has, over the years, been blurred outside.

"St Valentine passed a note to his jailer's daughter, whose sight he is thought to have cured," she said. "The note had no romantic content, but it's from this story that the tradition of sending notes of appreciation has come from.

"If tomorrow (Feb 14) you are still looking for your soul mate, the actual patron saint is St Raphael. He's the person you should dedicate your day or pray to if you are looking for Mr or Mrs Right."

St Raphael, according to legend, helped Tobias enter into marriage with Sarah, who had seen seven previous bridegrooms perish on the eve of her weddings. It is St Raphael, within the canon of Catholic saints, who is properly associated with helping to forge partnerships.

That may have been the case although there were things preventing me from assuming that. For example there is the fact that the only reason I found out that she had a crush on me was because she told her friends, whom are close to my friends, that past the message to them, and then it made its way to me (typical school friend business). Therefore I was not supposed to know about this as she is quite a shy person, one would think. But her friends also sectretly told me just for the sake of it, probably because they have the same views on "Annonymous Love" as I do. So whether I was supposed to know it was her that sent me the card is something that has confused me.

My bad, sorry to have assumed things Well, I don't really know what to say. If you feel that you will not have any regrets about your current choices, then it's ok, I think.

It's fine. I think that I will be okay.

I do believe in Coincidences, but I also think that you can't know when true Love will strike you. It could be tomorrow, it could aslo be never. Keep also in mind that a person can mistake Love with something else (like deep frienship), but on the opposite, a person can also have difficulty to realize that she/he is in love.

This was not a case of a deep friendship, but rather a case of a serious crush. This is because we never really spoke to eachother and she only knew me because I spoke with her friends a lot. She must have developed affection from just simply watching me and seeing the way I act and such.

Me I would not jump the gun because of something which could be a mere coincidence. What counts, imo, is what you feel. But think about it a little more, especially if, maybe, you are the kind of persons to be a bit clumsy about that type of feelings.

I understand. To be honest it does not bother me too much, I am sorry to say. I have told you my thoughts on this issue before and that should be enough to explain to you "why". Thankyou nonetheless.

I took my date for ice cream and to see some of the Olympic pavilions. Not as successful as the ice skating date I organized previously due to the huge crowds.
