I like the hand-to-hand style fight scenes, but it has to have more to it that just ordinary boring crap. E.g. spiced up with some magic or whatever. I actually like the Naruto style fights. Hellsing has pretty cool stuff too.

Love battles are the best, like Mitsuki vs. Haruka
Yui vs. Miaka
Naru vs. well, all of the other girls, I guess
Mahoro vs. Senpai+more

I really can't think of any great battles of men for women, though... anyone?
Maybe Takayuki vs. Shinji but not really
or Vegeta vs. er.. Y..Y.. um. Y-something the ballplayer but not really

Well, I could list more...
and I guess they're wars more than battles, anyway...

Any fighting that DOESN'T have:

A million gallons of blood shoot out of the wounds under 10,000 pounds of pressure.

Still shots with twitching lines around the character where they just play the sound effects then show the bodies on the ground.

Swords that shoot wind or some crap that cuts people and rocks in half.

Shiny slash trails over a black image resulting in never actually seeing the sword/knife contacting anyone.

A guy that gets cut clear in half but spends 10 seconds in one piece smiling or whatever with no visible wound until the "thrilling" moment when a trickle of blood tells us he got hit then he falls apart and blood sprays out at 10,000psi.

A million gallons of blood shooting out undor 10,000 pounds of pressure, none of it ever hitting the ground, it just seems to disappear in mid air.

Favorite Type of Fight

My favorite type of fight is hand to hand or close weapons like knives /swords. I like it when the hero loses his temper and starts knocking out like a dozen people with one punch.

hm i like "reasonable" mecha battle, like Gasaraki n MS 08th, BIG FLEET total battle with thousands of deaths >, plane dogfights (macross series) gun fights like in Ghost in the shell, with a lot death people but with a reasonable amount of blood. not too interested with sword fight even gundam with lighsaber.

I'd have to go with swords and hand to hand fighting. It just seems like there is less grunting (charging up) involved and it's harder for animators to choreograph a detailed fight then for them to draw a beam of massive energy ball hit something and have a massive explosion.

I'm pretty open to anything, although there are exceptions:

Guns: Don't make me wait like in the Matrix... enough shots already.

Swords: Clash clash clash...yawn. Any day now...Thats why i hate samurai anime battles .

I fully agree on that one

i prefer Sword Fights over anything
then "special abilities" combats (eg naruto, getbackers, ...)
then regular martial arts
