The writers really really hate Zessica, maybe she reminds them of an EX girlriend or something? The amount of abuse they dish out to her every week is simply inhumane.

I have to agree =0<. I could barely tolerate her getting the short end of the stick for most of the series, but when she 'gave her life' to save Amata from that rubble, with a goodbye kiss to boot, and he didn't mention her once since then, that totally pissed me off >=0[!

I'm waiting for them to pull that Zessica's is Touma's other half, that's why she has to suffer and that though her love is vastly superior to Amata's (she's at least acting selfless), it shouldn't be rewarded and only get her dragged through the mud. *sigh*

They crashed on Altair.

Zessica : goes looking for Amata.

Amata : wanders aimlessly (Zessica who? Mikono who? Amata who?).

Limited attention span unless something triggers the right memories.

EXTRA NOTE : Zessica, made in China. Mikono, made in Japan. The one basic rule, give japanese audience japanese stuff.

Zessica had the poor misfortune of starting off as a genki girl. They're now made to suffer (see my current avatar).

But in all seriousness, I agree with you, it's like the writing staff just loves putting Zessica through constant pain even when she's truly doing the best she can and acting competently in general.

On a tangental note, I recently wrote a blog exploring bad love triangles in general, with Aquarion EVOL making an excellent case study in love triangle ineptitude.

Almost all of what I wrote there I've already wrote before, but fans of this show might get a chuckle out of it at least.

Oh, I didn't know you were one of the rabbit poets blog writers, Triple R. Anyways, the love triangle doesn't bother that much, because let's be honest, the show is like Disney's Sleeping Beauty. It's in love with its side characters and doesn't treat the main characters very well. How much screen time was devoted to the mains in this show again?

With that said, I haven't seen True Tears yet, but I like the triangle in Haganai (you could argue it's a harem, but really, only two girls have a chance), mostly because I liked all three of the characters involved AND what they represent.

@triple R You could have added so much more on how the triangle in evol sucks.

The fact that Zessica is shown caring about Amata when Mikono is not.
The fact that Zessica do stuff for Amata (like cheering him when he's depressed while Mikono doesn't even notice he's depressed, saving his life more than once) while Mikono doesn't.
The fact that Zessica got more meaningful heartwarming moments with Amata than Mikono does, even in a one-sided way.
The fact that the moments between Mikono and Amata bare from episode 01-02-12 are pretty bad ones.
And with all of this Zessica was never shown to have the smallest of a chance, not even in 12000 years. the last thing she was clinging to. and even that was denied to her.

It's not failed writting at this point. They are purposedly spiting us.
I'm sure. It's no wonder even the staff are bitching.

Maybe Okada is secretelly is a Zessicafag and wants the whole show to go down with her.

I'm currently watching frontier to see if there's something wrong with Kawamori's triangles in general. So far it's very compelling and satisfying. I don't feel irritated at all.
Ranka's voice and singing are very soothing.

She tries to focus on her training to get her mind of things, but it's not really working. Still, she finds some comfort in knowing she can still go into battle with Amata. So when Izumo shows up they send her into battle, and that's where things really get unfair for Zessica. Izumo was essentially unbeatable because of his stupidly overpowered mech, so she was forced to fight a battle nobody could have won. But despite what you'd expect with her being depressed, she was actually 100% focused on her opponent. She tries two different long-range attacks which are both nullified by Izumo's mech, then goes into close range and asks Malloy to help her with a combo attack, which again demonstrates she was totally focused on the battle and aware of her teammates' abilities. That attack worked perfectly and would have probably taken out any opponent, were it not again for Izumo's indestructible mech. Izumo counters her next move which breaks their union, and Donar ends up replacing Malloy with Mikono and, worse, takes Zessica out of the union and in a support role. This of course makes Zessica feel totally worthless, and explains why she tried to sacrifice herself and get taken to Altair in order to stop the battle. What's also ironic is that the only one praising her combat abilities during that battle was Izumo.
