I do agree he's not drooling over her either, it's more like an implied shipping between him with Makio. The romantic mode seems much more intense when he's in his knight mode however. Anyway I feel that people are exaggerating on some stuff indeed. Even the chief woman didn't seem to drool over Yotaro either. It felt more like joking around than attempted rape. However it is indeed noticeable Yotaro's friend has feelings for the chief.

This show feel so rushed now...
First half this week had some light moments with the characters about to attend school. Then, we got this and the tempting offer for Yotaro to become part of the African branch. This eye looks familiar to me for some reason.

Yeah, a little sense of rush here. The new enemy looks to be done for barely after showing up, and Youtarou's given no chance to grow or fight the Eye. It would've been cool to see him fight the suggestion of that device, reject the absolute "truth" he feels in every word the woman says and declare that even if he "can't" protect them he'll die trying. But instead Daddy steps in and saves the day before any such thing can happen. That said, if the device is strong enough then perhaps its effects will continue and he'll still have to fight its suggestions. Either way, I'm betting Daddy is going to be the final villain this season, and I'd be so happy if we get a second.
On a different note, I'm quite interested to know why Makio's so incredibly upset about Knight Lancer being Youtarou. I had some ideas before, but I'm not so sure now. One thing I'm quite certain of is that it's not disillusionment over finding out that her beloved hero is just him. Youtarou seems to suspect this, and I'm certain that's the one thing it can't be. |

just when I thought East Asian Branch arc is the climax.... then more complicated problem arise
Just why everyone are so attached with this Yotaro-brat? Sun Dafei, African Branch head, and even his own dad are all so over-obsessed over him |

Some of the scenes in the finale reminded me of the OP song, mostly the part about "Yuma".
Eh, this show didn't appeal to me much. There were a few fun moments but mostly forgettable. The whole hero lancer thing got old pretty fast despite being a major part of the show's theme. Although compared to some of the other episodes of this season, I think the finale was probably one of the better ones.

Well, I for one liked this series no matter what anyone says. As they say, haters gonna hate. This is certainly not a brilliant work that'll live on as a classic, but it was fun and entertaining and I felt it was worth watching. Also, this falls into a relatively small number of series I know where the hero and heroine have no implied romance, and one of the still fewer where it really works. Makio and Youtarou show that this sort of relationship, a knight protecting his "princess" and fighting for her life and honor, needs only love, with no regard as to whether this is the love of a man for a woman or that of a friend for a dear friend or a brother for his baby sister. All that really matters is that a fighter find someone they can fight for. Maybe he'll get together with her some day (though I'm more in favor of our sweet little mild Tsundere, Sae), but they don't need any of that for him to strive to become a man able to protect her or her to become a lady he can feel honored to protect.
EDIT: forgot to mention, I was a little amused by Makio's reason for being so upset and acting so strange since figuring out Knight Lancer's identity. Should have suspected something like that. Completely forgot that she's a six-year-old superhero fanatic. Of course she's going to have some mixed up ideas like heroes having to disappear once their cover's blown. And a six-year-old worrying that he's going to have to leave her because of this makes a lot more sense than the slightly more mature concerns I'd thought up before or the disappointment that her hero was someone like him. Well, that was pretty bad. From the whole Africa branch being totally pointless, what with the leader running away in the first five minutes. To Shin being a creepy psycho with Vague motivation, Yotaro being a crybaby with unhealthy obsession on a ten years old girl and their fight having a cheap, lackluster ending.
We get a psychedelic "flashback" that explains a little and then the whole things just kind of ends. Are we supposed to be happy that Yotaro decided to embrace Knighthood? Because frankly pretty much all the knights we see act appallingly and the series does nothing to dispel Yotaro notion that they are a relic of old times that should be discarded. When someone like Yoriko is the best knight we've seen things look pretty bad. This was a weird series full of weird, disturbing relationships, vague confusing plots, questionable morals and way too many characters that serve no purpose and have no depth (like what's the point of that purple haired girl was?) Oh and we still didn't found out why can Shirohime and her mom turn human. Still, I can't say it was a total waste of time, since I had some fun watching it, but it definitely could use some improvement. |

I don't know how serious of a post I should write, so I'll just put my random thoughts. First of all, anyone can see how bad this show was because barely anything made sense and it didn't even try to justify why some things were the way they were. However, in spite of all the WTFness (no, seriously, throughout the entire series I yelled WTF irl at least once or twice per episode), it was still extremely fun to watch, albeit cringworthy. Exactly because of all the absurdities I feel like I had a blast with Lance N' Masques in an actual positive way.
Furthermore, let me add some opinions on each character. I thought each character's emotions were well presented. Makio is a lovely angel. Tries to act mature but is clearly not. Shirohime's existance defies my brain capability. Just why? How? PURYU? I wonder how she would react if I grabbed her tail Utawarerumono style? Yoriko needs some anger management. Her exaggerations are 50/50. Sometimes they are appropriate, sometimes they are not. But who cares, she's damn sexy with hair down. Sae normalfag, Yuhua hipster, Yuyuan unlikable brat who can apparently alter his own body temperature to fake a fever. Also he looks quite fine in that maid costume. Is he really a boy? Silvia is okay. Alice is love, Alice is life. She is the flower of the future, if anyone gets that reference. And then we have Yufeng who is even more mental than Yuyuan. I am rather worried about the final scene where Youtarou didn't even give her a proper farewell talk, and then we don't see her again. Only the picture she held in her hand. With her "parents" gone, she better not revert to the way she was before. Not like I mind me some yandere, but still! List goes on, but anyway. My point is, overall the cast is super whacky, and that's why it was fun to watch for me. I dare say I wouldn't mind a second season. lol I guess I will leave it at that. Oh, also, some of the soundtracks weren't half bad. I thoroughly enjoyed that bgm which first played when Yoriko let her hair down. Is that an accordion there? Will definitely check out the OST.
