To be honest, the improvements remind me of the announcement of the gba sp, in other words they're marginal.

The improvements to the GBA in the SP release were anything but marginal. A lit screen was a godsend, wanted for over a decade. A lithium battery meant no more battery swapping. The redesign was classy and compact, though for some it was admittedly too small.

I guess I won't be rushing to buy this. The new DSi has plenty of new features, but I won't really use all of those fancy new features like web or iPod storage (info from DS thread...). As long as I can play DS games, my current DS is good. What really hurts it for me is the loss of the GBA slot...

Let's see...
-3 megapixel cameras -Slightly bigger screen but same resolution -25-50% less play time -Less charge time -Slightly thinner and thinner, but not like the change from DS->DS lite -Only plays AAC, doesn't support MP3 -No more GBA slot -Increase in price DSi...not a single reason why I would want to get one...

I just wish that Nintendo makes a DS that can print money.
Meh..... It doesn't really have any advantage over the older DS models. My DS can play MP3, OGG, FLAC and many more types of soundfiles thanks to the wonder called Homebrew. If you want to take a photo you'd better buy a real camera. |

As much as I love my DS, I just don't get. Why Nintendo, from the land where everyone plays 3D games on their 8 megapixel camphone, just can't give DS better resolution and graphics.
Well, if there's handheld console trade ins, I'd definitely trade mine for DSi, maybe during christmas sales or something.

The DSi has probably has some other differences as well, such as more memory. But i think like the psp-3000, most people who have a DS lite, or psp-2000, probably won't be getting the DSi or psp-3000, since the differences are not too big, especially if they already have some hardware expansions such as ram pack (DS) or headset and camera units.
But for me, who skipped the ds lite and psp-2000, i will be getting both, especially since the DSi has wpa/2 support is a big plus for me. Probably importing the DSi with PSZero ^^. Biggest question is, one sites (watch.impress) has listed under the specification that it will support DS software and DSi software. Will there be games specifially made just for the DSi? |

In my opinion, the only neat new features about it are the DSiWares and the new speakers, I don't care about everything else since all I want is to play games on it. While the screens are bigger, they didn't change the resolution of the screens so they will look more pixelated. No GBA slot not only affect the retrocompatibility but some of the DS games like Guitar Hero for example. The battery's life time is also a letdown since the Lite can last almost twice as long and last but not least, the price. Why the hell would I pay an extra 50 bucks for a downgraded DS Lite with some added gimmicks?

As for me, I think I'm passing on the DSi unless some sort of wicked RPG comes out that's only DSi compatabile. Which I highly doubt, as the genre isn't one to use stuff like it. Not to mention lower battery life and GBA non compatibility really kills it for me. Probably it's only advantage are the stuff that involves the SD mem card, but at that point, I'd rather shell the extra dough to get an iPhone.
