After the amazing Prologue for Build Divers, it's odd how... weak the first episode feels in comparison. Nothing bad, but not quite as heart-pounding or groundbreaking.
Though the Build series continues the tradition of having some rather desirable onee-sans I see (and I don't mean Magi )

Well looks like IBO kits are confirmed due to the MC's looks (and also in the OP).
There's a ravioli of the Isekai(though I also think it's AI) and the Soccer type. Nanami grows big melons And one step closer to the singularity of a shared universe between plamo companies that would also include figures.

Ep.1 really just felt like a 20 odd minute commercial. I know thats what the previous Build series technically were, but it never really felt so in your face about it.
This seems a lot more shallow and forgettable, then again its little more geared to the younger demographic ?

Yes it is. The main demographic of Build series is most likely not far from the demographic of SD Gundam series. But with nods to previous series for old fans who are in the mood to watch something light featuring Gundam's mechs.
The MCs' fangasm about opening HG 00 aside, I don't think the show went full commercial that much. I mean, look at the female employee in the Gundam store who doesn't know much about Gundam. If this is a blatant in-your-face commercial series, they'll use her to promote the gunplas by making her a Gundam fangirl who will explain and promote everything Gundam. In other toy-based anime, her character would've played like that.

I want MC piloting non-gundam in Build figther verse. Given settings that promote freedom, creativity I don't see why people who prefer non-gundams can't get bone once or twice (both in and out of universe). I believe even rivals and final bosses piloted Gundams, with everone else being practically fodder.

It was...ok? The prologue was great but this episode was plain. BFT, despite its problems had a really great first episode. This episode was not bad...but not good either. Still the world is intriguing and I hope the series will build up on it.

I agree somewhat. Watching this episode is like reading a manual or watching an intro. But it's still fun. Here's hoping the next episode is more thrilling.

I would say adding one unit, into whole cast of Gundams will hardly hurt their sales and can even promote more interest in other types of Gunpla.

Not sure I like the whole virtual reality MMO aspect. I feel it removes the charm of Fighters and make it more generic, and I think it's a bad thing that the gunpla don't get destroyed anymore in real life (though it's good for the kids' wallets).
As for as first episodes go, that was pretty meh. Not really feeling the two MCs much, but the battles were pretty nice. Do we know how long after Fighters this series takes place?
