On the other side of the glass, you can see tomorrow.
No cast or staff announced yet. All that's known is it's set in Fukui and involves a girl who wants to become a glass smith.

It's been a while since we've had an announcement that really excites me, but this will do.

Glasslip PV2

Despite this being a P.A.W show, I was a little on the fence until now, but after watching this long ass PV I'm all in. The show as usual looks great and it doesn't seem like it's a CC of Tari Tari, which was my biggest fear (no offense to that show; I loved it but I don't want another SoL).

When the female protag claims she can see the future, I can't tell whether she's being literal or figurative. Does this mean there are some supernatural elements in the show? Not sure what I feel about that. And the weirdest thing is that there isn't a single mention of glassmaking although I think I saw glass at one point in the PV. (Can she the future through the looking glass or something?)

Only took me 6 minutes to spot a love triangle. My remaining faint hopes this wouldn't be another romance anime were quickly shot down. It doesn't even look like this show will have anything to do with glass making. Even the chickens are more relevant than it. I wasn't convinced by this first episode, it very much failed to impress. I can see it being decent or sucking majorly, but I can't imagine this anime ending up being great at the moment. Hopefully, the next few episodes will prove me wrong.

Ep 1

Initial Impressions

Hrm... well, first off the visuals were very good indeed. And I mean reeaaallllyyyyy good - to the point of jaw dropping, maybe even on Hyouka level for me. If they actually are able to keep to that standard it will be an absolute treat to watch!

The OP seemed very fitting and pleasant, esp in matching audio and visual, but the ED of chibi'fied charas was unexpected and plain weird for me.

Charas were all distinct, at least, though none really stood out for me... Prolly the strongest ones were the glasses girl and the guy with the headband; Oh, and the love dodechahedron or whatever it is was immediately sketched and immediately gave me a headache.

Unfortunately the overall impression was that it was... how shall I say this... trying a little too hard to sell itself as an "artsy" series and was somehow "blatantly, inorganically self-manufacturing" itself to be "dramatic" or "serious" or whatnot, maybe?

But that could just be a first ep impression, and honestly it seemed okay until the transfer student started talking with the MC. I found myself rolling my eyes and thinking "Pretentious." Was I supposed to think, that, I wonder? If I was supposed to sympathize it did not work. That's it! The interaction and dialogue between the 6 charas felt artificial and unnatural somehow, like over self conscious and clueless at the same time? Honestly it made me squirm a little....

Will continue trying it out, though. ^^

Hmm... I wonder what other people's impressions will be?

The first episode is like one of those episodes that don't pull me in initially until the later ones. Anyway it's here to establish the world setting, characters, and foreshadow future plot points. I can see points that can become relevant in the future.

For what it is now, I don't feel invested in this show quite yet, but I will still watch.

Scenery porn, scenery porn, train, scenery porn, another train, chickens, nano.Ripe.

Yup, it's a PA Works series.

No sign of a plot yet, unless you count the thing with the chickens, but the characters are likeable enough. And it's not like Tari Tari or True Tears had the most exciting first episodes.

I don't want to be overdramatic since it was just the first episode, but boy, was that not good at all for a show I had decent expectations for.

The direction is so weird, with weird little comedic visual touches (like the SD versions of characters) that is so unbecoming of the studio's overall down to earth style. I also didn't dig how the characters were introduced in pastel colored stills-- speaking of which there were so many stills in the episode that I found really odd, which is a first for the studio that doesn't resort to such cheap 'artistic flourishes'.

The second half was just so weird that I don't even know where to begin. A boy who newly transfers into school acts all shady and mysterious pontificating about the will of chickens which, for some reason becomes a topic that Touko, a happy-go -lucky girl, mulls over all day. I was WTF'ing throughout it.

And then at the end when the transfer student walks in on the gang, they all meet him with antagonistic stares as if he's some intruder who was invading their party.

There's seems to be a supernatural undercurrent which we only got to see a glimpse of that might explain everyone's behavior but until then I've gotta say that the show is not off to a promising start.

And I really really hope there's no incest in the story. I hope that girl who has a secret crush on that weird slit-eyed dude is not her brother because if that's the case then I'm out now because I don't want to deal with another True Tears trash.

I quite liked the first episode. Granted this one didn't have a stronger impression then say Nagi no Asukara did but still very good. It established the characters, world and foreshadowing what's to come. Whilst some of the characters didn't have a bigger impression it's only the first episode so it has time. Animation was very beautiful as expected of PA Works especially the glass making scene. There's potential for this and I'm hoping Junji Nishimura (the director and writer) actually does something really good with this one. Also since this is 13 episodes (I believe?) I'm wandering where this is going to go in one cour instead of the traditional two cour PA Works does for their originals.

A really interesting first start and I like all the characters and their interactions. However, can someone tell me. Nagi no Asukara was my first P.A. Works show. This series seems to have the exact same characters, just with different looks and ages. Is this a staple of PA Works original shows, or just a coincidence?

err...really awkward 1st episode.
I didn't know anything about it, and decided to give it a try because I thought it was about glass-making, and thought "hey, sounds cool, wouldn't mind learning a bit about it."

Ended up getting something that reminded me a lot of Tamako Market.
Kind of kawaii, but everything seems too bright.

Not sure if this is the kind of series I'm looking forward for "dramatic teen romance" triangles and squares.

Were those chickens just wild chickens or actual free range? How as Touku able to kidnap all the chickens and distribute them to her group.

lol @ the girl that's a bro-con for her step-brother.

Also last scene made me go "oh no..."

When ALL three girls started blushing @ when the transfer student walked in.
