Now I didn't say the anime was *bad* -- I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Its just somewhat like enjoying the hell out of LOTR in the theatre, then enjoying the hell out of the extra hours in the extended DVD version, yet still treasuring the vast scope of the books.

I mean, the Gregory Peck film version of Moby Dick is stellar though the film events are just a smudge of what the original book contains.

As long as they can atleast somewhat incorporate the vital volume 10 segments into the last 2 episodes I'll be relatively happy... D: This episode seemed like a heavy hitter but it just felt... awkward.

I think they'll just go ahead and outright skip nearly all the rest of volume 9 outside of the most vital details and cut right into 10 within the first 5 minutes.

Perfect analogy.

At times I felt like comparing complaining about something from the novels missing from the anime like asking what happened with the Wights in LoTR.

We missed some great scenes but they kept the core of the story relatively intact. From what I've read and watched, the 'spirit' of the original's still here.

Saw a raw torrent around but I'll probably wait around for a stream.

That was a pretty intense episode. Animation definitely looked kinda odd but it worked well for the last few scenes.

Doesn't look like there's much doubt as to the ending now...

And now... another seven days.

Oh yeah. Haruta's girlfriend... XD how the hell did he...

Once again, a really nice episode. The outcome is now totally obvious, if you weren't alreadyconvinced by last 2 episodes.
Too bad for me since it wasn't my favored pair, but honestly I don't care too much, since it was well done overall.

i read the BT translated stuff they have up, but honestly i think the anime is better than the book. Wow, there aren't many times in life where you get to say that.

However I am reading the work of several amateur translators. So perhaps the original text is better. The thing I didn't like about the translated novels is that the writing style was kinda boring. Someone mentioned the book Moby Dick earlier. Now that is a read. It's not the tale is how you tell it.

Gregory Peck has always been my hero. He will always be Atticus in my heart.

I assume you've read the Haruhi novels? Now THERE is an epic writing style.

It looks like they're being purposely vague by focusing so much on extreme scenery close-ups.

hmm, putting the last 2 novels in 4 episodes seems to take it's toll.

It was a good episode on its own, but it would have been better if they had one episode more....it seemed kinda rushed and I missed some things to be honest.

Still gave it a 9 though

YAAAAAAY

Just watched a bit, and then realized that I still don't know enough Japanese to not need subs. Gah.

That thing with Haruta was cute though.

Thats because for the bigger part it is NOT a romantic comedy. Romantic part comes only at the end. And at the cost of almost completely killing the comedy.

I can't say I agree with that. Yeah the anime tones it down a little what with the lack of inner monologues but relationships play a huge part in the story from the very beginning.

The tone does change though, that's undeniable.
