Hajime is... best I can describe, the epitome of condensed GENKI transformed into a girl. Which makes for a refreshing lead that does seem a bit of her head lost in the clouds yet without looking stupid.
Also, she does a lot of leeeeewd voices in this episode.... I could listen to her moan all day- *SHOT* If there's one word I can use to describe this first episode, it's 'Classy'. Everything from the art style to DAT MUSIC just clicks. I don't think anyone would not like the part where the BGM goes GATCHA MAAAAAAAN Definitely looking forward to the 2nd episode.

I read this somewhere:
Quote:
So in a way, Gatchaman Crowds is a parody of the old series, adding a twist to old tropes and poking fun of itself.

I did not know Iwasaki was composing this and therefore my body wasn't ready for the FABULOUS transformation scene
I can't stop singing to myself "gatchamaaaaan" right now Anyways I'm much more hooked than I expected to be. edit: and looking at what kazu-kun posted I was indeed reminded of old shows when Hajime accepted being a hero no questions asked, that's something you don't see much of now.

This show has nothing to do with Gatchaman.. it's a stupid super hero show that stole the name Gatchaman! Ugg.. I want to tear my eyes out after watching the massacre to the name of the show I use to watch that was Gatchaman!
If they would not have INSULTED Gatchaman with this show and called it some other name I might have been able to get into it but showing anyone this as Gatchaman who has never watched it or us that have grew up watching it this CRAP and insulting us with this CRAP as Gatchaman really just irks me. I read in many other blogs that they are trying to shove something that isn't Gatchaman as Gatchaman by saying it through out the entire episode! Just horrible. |

I've seen the original and I do not feel insulted. Actually, I think the original had just a handful of decent episodes, and the latter part of the series was very bad, IMO.
As for this one, I liked the first episode. As long as the story doesn't have issues like in C, I don't have problems with this series. |

I agree that I fear that the anime won't have C's issues and that they planned the story which can fit in one-cour without having weird pacing.
Really liked the first episode and I'm totally in love with Hajime. The OP is the best one but the ED was a bit generic..

It's not even a remake, just a show in the same franchise. Just because it's different doesn't make it an insult or bad. And if you don't like it, just don't watch it :/ No need to call something crap and whatnot just because it's not for you. |

I watched the original and absolutely LOVED Crowds. Didn't really care for the roginal, it was way to corny. And the bird suits made no sense, since they were supposed to be ninjas.
I absolutely love Hajime. She's adorable, but man, it would be so tiresome to hang out with her all day. Most likely, OD can't transform.... because he doesn't need too. He probably has some over powered ability. |

Okay, Hajime is definitely one of the most "off the knitter" characters I've seen a in a long time. "Head in the clouds" is almost an understatement to describe her (or maybe it's the other way around and it's her head that's full of clouds ), she does make for a nice contrast to Surgae's (I think ?) seriousness.
Anyway, the first episode was pretty good, despite this being essentially a reboot and reimagination of the original Gatchaman, this was surprising pretty standard faire as Sentai shows go. What stood more to me was insanely fluid visual style and the rather retro 70/80s style music that kinda of gave off the "old show made modern" feel. If that what studio was going for in terms of looks, then they succeeded in spades. This and Danga look like the summer shows I'll most likely stick with so far. |
