I think whatever method he used, it heavily relies on his intense desire to avenge for his family, and I don't think it's very healthy. For Kenichi to follow Tanaka's path, he must experience great lost and sadness, in other words, the death of his loved ones, like Miu or his family.

...no no no not Miu. If he was to follow this path his approach of martial arts would be the same result as any other and that is him going to the dark side (had to use this reference). To be frank if a tragedy was going to happen it doesn't have to be a loved one with Keinchi this guys personality reflects not just loved ones but friends and allies he has made along the way.
