Decent overall. It skipped around here and there, but I guess they were trying to cram a bunch into 20 minutes.
Saber's cry hit me like a rock and my heart broke into a million pieces - one of the things that I would say was much more powerful than the novel. |

Fascinating episode.
I liked that they moved Lancelot's resolution to this episode. It tied in really well with Saber's ending. Great decision by Ufotable. I think it makes for a really more emotional ending for Saber than the novel version. Well done. Kotomine's Azoth scene. Fuck you, Kotomine, seriously. That was beyond cruel. Hope it comes back to bite you in the ass! (lol). Only real weakness to the episode is the final conclusion with Kiritsugu and Shirou. I wished I could have seen more of their relationship before that ending. As such, I didn't really "feel" Kiritsugu's relief at Shirou's words. I did enjoy the Taiga cameo though! Now I'm loading up the game to see the characters' redemption. I know I'm not the only one! |

Oh boy... the sadness at seeing it end! Was a wonderful episode to close off an wonderful series. Kerry's desperation, Saber's sadness, Kirei's mad laugh. Everything falling into place.
I seriously rejoiced upon seeing Shirou. Though I have to admit, I laughed like mad when I saw naked Gil... that was just so out of the blue for me. Good stuff. |

...and Shirou, you sure have a loooooong road in front of you. You've inherited the most tormented heritage. Good luck to you and all this cast of masochistic heroes. Seriously, I had to pause after hearing Lancelot and Saber's words. He hated her but respected her as the perfect king. She broke down from the weight of her duty, but resolved to continue to honor her friends' sacrifices. Its like an exercise in masochism. Could there ever have been a good ending for them?
If nothing else, I really enjoyed this series as a commentary on the conflicting nature of "heroes". |

Shirley: Kerry, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Kiritsugu: I, want to be a Hero of Justice. Sad scene, in the end, Kerry couldn't become what he wanted to be. Gonna miss Fate/Zero. It was a great ride and right now my favorite anime of this year. Kirei, you really are twisted. Enjoying yourself while Rin was crying. I think Ufotable really disliked Kariya, they trolled him and Lancelot a lot. It was good to see young Shirou. Not my favorite character but after spending a lot of hours viewing his point of view in Fate/Stay Night will make you miss him in Fate/Zero. Oh and Gil, kono hentai. That made me laugh. |

And here's another thing. If, as Lancelot stated, they all saw her as the perfect king, why would she interpret that as a powerful motivator to make her kingship void? Saber is so damn deep in her self-loathing that she can't even take in praise for her reign. Such a tragic figure.

BEST.EPISODE.EVER:
That aside, Sakura was so scary after Kariya died (and made me want HF anime). Poor Kiritsugu and Saber. Those scenes were so emotional. Rider has indeed left a presence, he will always be in our hearts. Rin and Sakura's mother... Oh and let's not forget Kirei's Engrish

I mean sure the people in the next holy grail war all find a way for the most part to live happily afterwords, but I think everyone, but Waver (and of course Gil and Keiri) in this grail war get royally screwed over. Ah depression, how I love it.
