A domain name has been registered for the series so expecting an anime adaptation soon. The series has gotten an OVA adaptation in the past before. From the author of Full Metal Alchemist, this should be interesting if done right.

Confirmed for anime adaptation. It will adapt Hiromu Arakawa's manga version for the series.

Actually two mini movies and four ovas according to the wiki page:

The Heroic Legend of Arslan(アルスラーン戦記 Arusurān Senki?) is a Japanese fantasy novel series. The author, Yoshiki Tanaka, started writing Arslan in 1986 and is still writing it as of 2008, with the current number of books at 13 novels and one side story in the official guidebook Arslan senki tokuhon.

It was made into a manga (which went ahead and came up with an ending on its own), two anime films, and a four-part, unfinished anime OVA.

In 2013, a second manga adaptation started serializing at Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine with illustrations by Hiromu Arakawa.

I wonder if the basis for the adaptation will be the second adaptation only or if it will draw from the novels or even the previous anime adaptations as well? The second manga adaptation was done by Arakawa Hiromu, who also did Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon.

I'm hoping it's Bones although chances are somewhat likely. They did say they will be adapting 3 series (from manga) and one original work in a panel.

OST is great and visuals and voice acting are good. That is all I can tell so far, since this episode is a filler and the actual series starts next week.

Arslan's face looks very much like Edward Elric's from FMA.
That's pretty much the only reason I decided to check it out.
Lots of characters..
Prince Arslan is totally nothing like his father.
The other kid was more interesting then Arslan.
They do make a good duo though..
Will give this a few more episodes.

Personally, I'm sitting episode 1 out. We'll see about the rest... I hope for the best, although some of the screencaps I've seen on 2ch were kind of hilarious in a "yep, this art style doesn't suit what you're trying to do, but kudos for trying" way, like this:

I thought they were doing Arslan, not "Our Prince Can't Possibly Be This Cute"... o__O) But seriously, WHAT??? This is crap that I'd find funny in a comedy doujinshi or fanart, but in an official Arslan adaptation... eeehh???

Farangis, what have they done to you... and let's not even get into everything else that is wrong with this picture. Again, let us not forget that when drawing dignified and strong female characters it's very important to give them huge boobs and dress them as scantily as possible, also don't forget about their nipples because those are a really important part of characterization.

However, for what it's worth, I do appreciate the Daryun/Arslan service... despite the art style.
