As a het shipper, I find both equally as uninteresting. I can tolerate Yaoi several times over than Yuri though, because...
1) A lot of times its actually funny within the context of the show 2) Yaoi jokes never get old, especially if you regularly go to cons (man, do they kill that joke over and over again in cosplay skits ). So outside of the show its still a source of amusement XD 3) I find it a waste to lose 2 perfectly fine girls in my harem while I lose none if its Yaoi and 4) Yaoi shippers tend to immediately ship 2 guys who are childhood friends, while it's very rare to see Yuri shippers to do the same with 2 girls who are childhood friends. So yeah, I relate more with Yaoi shippers since they can understand somewhat my shipping preferences |

And in some cases trick some female viewers into thinking that some pretty guys are actually girls! Mwahahaha!

Yaoi and yuri tend to follow certain aesthetic principles and this seems to be one of them.

Oddly enough, I'm a straight girl and yet I tend to prefer het romances and yuri romances to yaoi romances.
I don't really know why. I think, for one thing, it's because in general yaoi is fangirled so badly to the point that all it takes is for two guys to look at each other and suddenly the fandom thinks they're an item, which tends to be less of the case with a het pairing or a yuri pairing. That and pretty much any yaoi I watch these days tends to end with the characters between the sheets, which isn't really the kind of thing I enjoy watching. x__x I don't mind reading it so much, but I dislike seeing it animated. It's just... it feels weird to me. And with yuri pairings, the fun for me is the subtext. Nothing is ever really fully stated in a yuri at least until the very end, and it's fun to go along with it. I'm not saying that yaoi doesn't have subtext, but in general it tends to be more direct than yuri does.

That's what Yaoi means. Void, without content. Perhaps it doesn't mean all of them is like that(Personally I don't know. As a straight guy I avoid Yaoi like the plague), but it's naming is quite meaningfull. I think it's named after the fangirls' attitude towards it.
Anyways: I don't really like the serious Yaoi or Yuri things, but perhaps I am perfectly okay with it as comedic tool. |

I still can't seem to figure out the reason why yaoi appeals to girls and vice versa. Can someone please explain?
Oh...and for me, even though I'm hetero, yuri seems to have better story plots at times IMO. Yaoi...only if used for humor tools. |

Hmm? I think it is pretty natural yaoi appeals to girls and vice versa. Typically guys like girls so yuri = 2x girl so its more appealing, i think
I am a straight guy and i like yuri even better than straight. In my case i like the more innocent? interaction like holding hands, blushing, hugging and kissing. |

I'm a girl, yet I tend to prefer yuri to yaoi, my reasons being stated in my earlier post. Probably doesn't help that most of my anime buddies are guys, so when they suggested stuff or brought manga to the lunch table it was either het or yuri in terms of romance.
