I'm quite sure that, at no point in the novel, it says that the girl's skirts are made of lead, and thus they mustn't flip in zero g. But hey, perhaps that's wrong, and you can show me the part in the novels where it *does* say so. I'm waiting
The more you stick to what is, quite frankly, a stupid argument, and the more you use emoticons like that, the less you convince me that you're in this for anything other than perverted reasons. Just so you know.

The girls had to be wearing skirts. The girls weren't wearing suits originally, so they weren't wearing them here. Also, as I already said, spacesuits are not generally equipped with enough air for multi-day trips, not to mention they are unwieldy and unnecessary inside the sealed environment of the ship. Likewise, the Odette didn't have artificial gravity. So it doesn't have it here. And finally, the girls were wearing their school uniforms, as is fitting for a school club on an official school trip. There's no sign that they should have had specially-tailored uniforms for zero-g, especially since it seems most of the club's activities actually involved staying on the ground and piloting ships by remote.

And so, the anime's creators were faced with a problem: the source material requires the girls to be wearing skirts, and be in zero-g, but it's not the sort of series that would work with the panty shots that would normally create. Solution: TV-Tropes infamous Magic Skirts that defy physics to prevent panty-shots, but which have been an accepted part of animation since before anime existed. A time-honored tradition, and complaining about it now is rather stupid.

So we're back to arguing over the physics of skirts in microgravity?

We can deal with this in a few ways:
1.) Anime Magic Skirt theory. Skirts are magic and obey the whims of the animators. Case closed.
2.) Advanced Technology theorum. The Yacht Club possess some sort of technology that keeps the skirts down relative to their perception of "up". It is almost like a magic skirt.
3.) Mouretsuverse local physics are different from our physics. Skirts act like lead in microgravity in the Mouretsuverse.
4.) Animators didn't want to bother theory/ The Girls Could Be Wearing Shorts Under Their Skirts Theory. The real truth is that their skirts behave like they ought in microgravity but the "camera"(i.e animators) shows differently. Since they are on a school activity and must wear a school uniform, they either: A.) Don't Care since it is all girls school B.) They are wearing shorts under their skirts to prevent their unmentionables from being seen.

OK, that's my two copper pieces. Got a nice view of Chiaki's leggings when she was curtsying. She wears them very nicely. Oh, and guest ED "Black Holy" is pretty good(forgot to mention that)

I remember Velma's skirt in live-action Scooby: it defied gravity.

That's an interesting thought. She did warn Marika that she has orders to not let anyone or anything stand in her way during her quest for the ghost ship.

Spoiler for Smug Chiaki:

However, we all know that Dark Queen Chiaki has... deep feelings for Marika, but when it comes to getting the job done, just how far will she go? What will you do, Chiaki-chan?

Spoiler for How deep is your love?:

Black Holy's not bad....

At last....was wondering when Benten-maru would get to hit FTL.

I see Marika may be finally forced to bloody her hands...

Regards Chiaki's suit in the ED, that resembles less a space suit and more like a set of coveralls a crewman/maintenance chief would wear. With the way her sleeves are rolled up, and the heavy gloves, it does remind me of what I've seen of maintenance aircrews on carriers and in hangars.

Also, apart from wearing their club hoodies and school skirts, they could have been wearing jumpsuits, like the kind NASA used on the Apollo missions, or your humble Nomex flightsuit that's used by practically every military pilot worldwide. (Except for British Apache crews, who instead wear DPM or MTP fatigues made from Nomex and other fire-resistant materials, so that in the event they're shot down they'll look like another squaddie, and not an Apache pilot.)

But the rules are school skirts and club jerseys, so that's how we roll. I'd also note that in my school, that was typical attire for any club activities - school bottom (skirts or trousers) mated with club t-shirt.

Also, I'd be curious to see if Jenny actually reciprocates towards Lyn....

As for the skirts... I'm inclined to think that the animators didn't bother because it would needlessly distract from the mood and tone of the show, and also because they need to save budget for when it's really needed. Like how in The Inspector Daizengar and Daitrombe are somewhat toned down, and the battle with Wodan becomes a single stroke battle... all so they could save budget for Real Men Ride Each Other at the endgame. *shrug*

Now can we please leave the goddamned panty shots aside and discuss more relevant matters?

Now, given the size of this ghost ship -- and people able to actually do some guess work on its course -- I am actually skeptical about it being hidden for 200+ years. But, looking at the preview of the next episode - the idea can make sense.

"Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space."

Even knowing the basics of its course (and not everyone may have had that, since it was built from accumulated data, some of which was classified by Serenity and some of the rest built up from sightings over the many years) there is a lot of space out there for it to get lost in.

Plus if someone is using FTL drives to reach a point in space, how long are they going to search an area at sublight before they try to jump to someplace else to search...and possibly miss the ship entirely while doing so (since we have no idea just how precise the FTL drives are in coming in and out of warp or whatever it is called).

And the Bentenmaru was rather tiny next to thats "Escort". But they seem to think they can easily handle three of them.

Naturally. Likewise, any story involving space -- well -- a writer can pretty much do anything.

But consider: 200 years. A vessel not even capable of light speed. How far can such a vessel travel in 200 years? Not even 200 light years. As large as space can be -- that range isn't very much.

And I'm assuming vessels in this series are capable of travel on the factor of "Warp". If not, then... alright... however, I cannot imagine a galactic empire not capable of traveling by multiple factors of light.

In addition, if you throw in phenomena like... dark nebulae or worm holes. Then, maybe I'll buy the idea of such a vessel getting lost.

The ghost ship has also been heavily modified over the years.

During travel? Are you kidding me?

That means:

A) Someone knows where it is
B) Someone on the ship can live long enough to service the ship during its journey
C) Q (or Kyuu ) from the Q-continuum is tinkering with it
D) Any other scenario

DISCLAIMER: I am not a Q.

It seemed different to me when they showed the last recorded image of it verse the original image. It looked more like a cylinder in the recent image to the two spheres sort of look the original had. It is not like it has not been found before. Not with all those sightings.

Yeah, it looked like a dong, with two enormous balls. Then it looked like a piko hammer. At least it is not the Sansha's Revenant Supercarrier, the one looks terrible.

Another very interesting. The ghost ship is actually a colony ship created a few centuries ago. That raises a lot of questions, like why nobody tried to recover it earlier (it's very hard to find but not impossible) and why Gruelle is so interested in it. Apparently, it hold the key to the current power struggle on Serenity (the chamberlain ensuring everything is fine pretty much means it's the opposite), but I have no clear idea what it could be. I suspect it's hiding a big secret or important passengers (older royal members?), hence why they had the ship follow a course that would make it hard for people to find.

Yeah. Like how adorable Chiaki is.

I certainly missed Chiaki-chan last week. It was so good to have her back. Her interactions with Marika are always delightful to watch. I never tire of her typical tsundere behavior~

And I love how intense her greeting to Gruelle was

Finally got to watch this week's episode: as always, the plot is thickening as Marika and her motley crew embark on an adventure (finally!) that has the potential of great reward (making their usual cruise-ship-heist gigs peanuts in comparison) if accomplished, but laced with greater perils along the way.

Surely, Chiaki has a lot of hot buttons that can be pressed, left and right.

I haven't watched the latest episode yet, but I've got to say...

...Enough of this nonsense, Kyuu! /Picard

That said, I do believe it is very easy for ships to disappear in the middle of deep space. Even with FTL, and advanced sensors, there's still a lot a lot a lot of space to cover. And then you throw in all sorts of high-warp entities, subspace anomalies and Q... I think its very plausible.

After all, we never knew what happened to La Forge's mother's cruiser, did we?

I think that it's hidden because some "politically dangerous info" is on it. Now one side needs it to gain the upper hand so there's a race to get to the ship first.
