But there are plenty of Shounen manga not from Shonen Jump that show romantic developments. One of them is History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, and another would be Rosario + Vampire (and the continuation of the manga in another magazine, which was curiously named Rosario + Vampire Season II). Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha show them too.

c'mon, that few examples that you had mentioned did happend in the end of stories, while NAJ p.jackson meant was to make some epiloque arc where especially both soma and erina have development while series still ongoing which would likely to happend, but looked at how salty he is about the current situation, i just made laugh of him..lol

as for bleach's novel and naruto's movie isn't count. cuz they're both not in manga eventhough it's canon.

still, they aren't shounen jumps weekly.

Erina saying her mother's breast milk tastes awful was from the one shot, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they made it canon. We've seen far more ridiculous things in the main series, and that joke was actually pretty funny in the context of the one shot.

Well this is all just kinda pointless now, changing the tournament like that makes it all rather mute on who is the best.

Whatever fair ground it had before is now completely gone and whoever wins, wins a sham title.

At this point might as well just have Souma and Asahi duke it out and get it over with.

As daft as this series has been at times, some thing were grounded with some kinda realism but now it's just gone.

Here's hoping to Erina wipes the floor with every single person there including Souma and Asshat and be done with it all.

The fact that Erina is beating everyone she has a match against means she's that good, doesn't it? She's been having matches one after the other without rest and she still swept the floor with each and every one of her opponents so far ever since her mom made that change. So we can just look at that as saying that whoever beats her is also better than everyone she beat, too. It doesn't necessarily make the title a sham. Though unless Mana can change for the better somehow, I wouldn't any of the main characters to win this BLUE because whoever wins it will be Mana's personal chef (and I don't want that for any of them).

The only person that comes out of this looking good is by default now Erina, if she reaches the say the semi or the finals she would regardless be the best chef there.
All the others doesn't matter.
Can't go changing a toury mid way through, what level playing field it(it was supposed to have) had has none gone can't fairly judge who is the best chef anymore.
Therefore its a sham title.
Erina is indeed a goddess but this blue title no longer means squat.
