Sorry, I never though of the dengue as a seasonal disease, only as a mosquito-born one.

I went to the pharmacy to look for some vitamin b3 (niacin) and got by mistake vitamin d3 (my mask and face shield in a street with high noise level due to cars were at fault). We are getting plenty of vitamin D out of walks in the sun, but the climate suddenly got colder (so we have to cover up) and found this just published study:

The intensity of inflammatory response is also higher in vitamin D deficient COVID-19 patients. This all translates to increase morbidity and mortality in COVID-19 patients who are deficient in vitamin D. Keeping the current COVID-19 pandemic in view authors recommend administration of vitamin D supplements to population at risk for COVID-19.

So no, it wont prevent you from getting infected with the disease, but it might prevent you from dying from it and imo that is as good as it gets until we get most people vaccinated. imo medical personnel should get this on their daily diet.

The UK has become the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for widespread use.

British regulator, the MHRA, says the jab, which offers up to 95% protection against Covid-19 illness, is safe for rollout next week.

Immunisations could start within days for those who need it the most, such as elderly, vulnerable patients.

The UK has already ordered 40m doses - enough to vaccinate 20m people.

I've got a bit of a trivial question. Those vaccines, are they frozen solid and then melted before injection, or are they in a solvent that stays liquid at -70°C?

AFAIK they melt and can even survive at rom temperature for some time, so yeah, not only you need a special fridge, you need time for each dose to reach room temperature.

AFAIK injecting you with a liquid at -70C can't be good for human health.

Of course, this I heard on some newsfeed, any proper infodump from a health professional would be appreciated.

There is no aqueous solvent in the ingredient list, though maybe once warmed up, they are diluted with something for easier handling. So I'd guess they have a milky consistency. When frozen, it could be like a powder or a cream.

They're also loaded with sugar and salts for cryoprotection and pH buffering.
