I was flipping through the channels while the Olympics was on commercial break and saw a few seconds of Garren on the SCI-FI channel and thought it was better than expected. But i'm fan of subs since Japanese voices always bring out the emotions.

wow. I'm way suprised by how good this actually is.

Leeron is perfect, Yoko is damn good, and I'll have to wait and see for simon and kamina, since the action sequences and epic speeches will make or break them. No horrific and dodgy translations thus far, and all the original music seems to have been kept intact. good show.

Wow episode 8. I have to admit, this was still pretty epic. The Giga Drill Break was a lot better than I was expecting. Now waiting for Simon's turn for his balls to drop.

So awesome! *thumbs up* Kyle Herbert went out with his best dubbed line in the series!

EDIT: Also, I was hoping that by hearing the english version, I would finally be able to know how to pronounce Thymilph's name. But the characters were saying it too fast or during noisy parts of the show... Could somebody help me so that I don't embarrass myself later at a convention or something? x.x I just want to make sure I'm saying it correctly.

Are you sure?
I could have sworn I heard a quick er at the end.

Episode 8 was still as epic as ever. Good thing they didn't change the speech right after gattai. ._. I cried more tears after this episode, dub or sub. Its still epic.

It's just the Japanese pronunciation of "break"

Yeah, we all know how when the Japanese say an English or English-like word the way they say it adds another syllable (ex. Light to Raito). In this case, it's Break to Breaka or Breaku

I never knew that..... O.O I seriously thought all this time they were saying "Breaker". (Actually, I think the fansub I watched put "breaker" in the subtitles, too. So that didn't help me either. ^_^;; )

Thank you to everyone for the correction. x.x Stuff like this is exactly why I try to correct myself before I go to a con and embarrass myself.

And thank you, CJL13, for the pronounciation of Thymilph's name. I appreciate it! ^_^

In Japanese all characters (hiragana/katakana) ends with a vowel, the exeption is "ん" (n). So all english words that they take to their language will end with a vowel or "n"

Haven't watch any of the english episodes and don't know if I will but it seems as if they have done a pretty good job. Even though I prefer Japanese.

When I used to be a Fullmetal Alchemist nut, I knew the Japanese version would call the main characters "Edo" (Ed) and "Aru" (Al). But I guess because "breaka" sounds more like an actual word, I was fooled. XP

Much as I'm normally a fan of Steven J Blum in most of his other rules, this one is creepy. If that's what they were going for, then they've nailed it according to their intent. But Masaya Onosaka was in no way creepy, but hilarious and even endearing. I am not endeared to this Leeron.

I dunno...Kamina kind of came off as more of a jerk or an idiot than epically GAR. :\ Episode 8 just feels so much more emotional in Japanese.

I'm also a little worried about Nia. I can imagine her voice actress trying too hard to capture the distinctly Japanese tone of her voice. I guess we'll see.

I was pretty happy with the characters dubs, with my only exceptions being Kamina's and I think Kittan's was the other one I didn't like (Reminds me of another Dub that got a bad accent *cough*Jonouchi*cough*).

I too also thought that it was originally "Breaker." I do love the way he said it though. I also loved the older Simon's voice in the Prologue. Can't wait for the timeskip.
