I'm pretty sure Kaito is dead

the question however is this:

are the readers feeling Gon's lost?

I'm not sure if they can relate to that

Kaito is a character that made very few appearances and he hasn't really done much to make a lasting impression. Of course the frequent hiatus also hurts this.

I just hope Gon gets this unhealthy obsession out of his system and move on. I don't care if he becomes another Sasuke (REVEEEEEEEEEEEENGE!) or Naruto (Gandhi in the making) but please Togashi, just move on with this, ok?

Yeah, I think Pitou's telling the truth. There aren't much reasons for him to lie. And that also explains why he was sweating bullets at the end of the last chapter.

The manga has been back for a while, and still no hiatus in sight. That's great. Hopefully, Togashi will keep this up. There are still so much things left to see in HxH.

Yeah, I also don't think he's lying. If anything, I think that despite the phone call he got from Pouf, Pitou still feels threated from Gon, and perhaps should be feeling more threatened than ever. The way I see, it Gon is just about ready to go into a supereme rage mode unlike anything we've seen so far. He's also gotten much stronger since his last encounter with Pitou. I look forward to it =D

Seriously, it seems like Gon may have awakened a new Nen ability due to the feelings of losing Kaito. Can't quite tell what it is though, but His Transformation level should only be at 40%, since he's the least compatible with it, unless that was just Togashi's way of drawing a mad Gon (>.>)...

Lol, one prediction made at the top of this page came through.

frubam, you're mistaken about his weakest one. Being of the Reinforcement type, he's weaker at Materialization and Manipulation. The GI arc only stated that he's more inclined towards Emission compared to Transformation.

If we're to break his ability down, here's the logic.
Something appeared from Gon's body.
=>Reinforcement of existing structure, causing it to expand. (e.g. Hatsu on water causes overflow)
=>Materialization of Nen. (This is unlikely as Gon is a Reinforcement type with not much training in Materialization)

But like with that Cheetah guy, the ability could be Materialization too, given the emotional circumstances.

Hmmm, I recalled Hisoka mentioning that Gon and himself were opposites in terms of Nen ability(and that opposites attract). I also recall Killua just saying some chapters ago when fighting Palm that his Reinforcement was only at 40% max and couldn't topple Palm's.

Hmm... That was... weird. But at the same time, Gon was long overdue for a new ability. His jajanken can still be developed a lot further, but this makes things more interesting.

Next chapter is going to be brutal, and it looks like he won't snap out of it until Killua arrives.

Isn't nen affinity also based on personality? If the trauma caused an extreme shift in his personality, his nen affinity could change.

I don't think Gon is actually transforming. I think that was Togashi's way of showing Gon was angry. To me, it looked like a symbol or representation of Gon's anger taking physical form, but it's more symbolic rather than it being a new Nen technique.

Given the way the thing is posed, I'd say it's similar to Killua's Kanmuru in that it reacts to the opponent's attack with the appropriate counter.

Spoiler for Chapter 306: I'm having mixed feelings about this chapter. On one hand, it's awesome that SSJ2 Go(ha)n WTFPWNED Pitou in just a couple of moves (half a chapter, I guess). On the other hand, I really wanted Go(ha)n to take his time and beat the crap out of Pitou slowly. Not to mention that we've never actually seen Pitou fight an all out battle, have we? That might have been cool. All that build up and he gets done in a single chapter. Oh well, now Go(ha)n can go and WTFPWN the king. I have a feeling he's going to put up a better fight against him than Netero did (without the nuke, of course). Gon in SSJ2 mode is also a lot stronger than Killua. I wonder how that will work out. Killua will have to do an Enel or something to go back to matching Gon's power.
