Boy does this bring back memories... I remember Digimon being one of my favorite cartoons to watch on Saturday mornings as a kid, with the original Adventure Dub, and that got me hooked on the franchise and led me watching the consecutive installments. I'm currently watching the dub of Xros Wars as Digimon:Fusion, so this new series isn't going to be a resurgence of Digimon for me, but it'll be nice to see the Adventure cast again and it'll be interesting to see what they do with 02 .

Only downside is, Toei being Toei, I'm not expecting anything in terms of animation .

Really excited for this. And so soon too.

I hope they retcon that stupid 'epilogue'

Huh, this is really happening. I'm cautiously excited, I suppose. Can't resist that Butterfly, after all.

I certainly wouldn't mind them retconning the entirety of 02 away, what a mess of a sequel that was, but I suppose I can live with them just focusing on the original cast this time.

I can't speak for Re: Digitize but the Adventure game for the PSP was about as vanilla a JRPG as it gets. It's basically the story told in a Visual Novel fashion but with an incredibly generic battle system and lazily designed areas to walk through.

The best thing that came out of it was easily seeing the remaining Digimon (besides Agumon and Gabumon) warp evolve at last:

Wow, Yamato actually gets to share the spotlight with Taichi? I can certainly live with that.

Yammato was always second MC though he was unlucky since MC was Taichi

think of it like Kira and Shin but with less popularity since he didn't have his own anime

so most people like Taichi while hating Yammato since he not just Tachi rival in battle/leadership but in love too

...I don't know about you guys, but I was a kid when I watched this (considering it came out 15 years ago). I sure as hell didn't "ship" anyone.

Add to that that the characters were also children, and thus not in any relationships (like, for example, the Green and Pink Rangers in Power Rangers). Adventure 2, perhaps, since they definitely made a love triangle more pronounced.

Well, I have understood that Yamato is very popular in Japan (perhaps the most popular character).

Few of us probably did, the shipping mostly got added on with 02 and on revisiting the show after some years. But then even when first watching it, I do remember recognizing certain pairs to stand out, like Joe/Mimi and Hikari/Takeru.

It's probably just a dream, but really I hope they get Hosoda onboard to do even just one episode. That one episode that he did remains the most vivid episode of Adventure in my mind, even after more than a decade.

WOAH!!! OMG! this! THIS FEELING!

The feeling! The nostalgic feeling! I remember when I'm still a brat and waiting for it to air on tv. darn. I remember when maxing the volume of the tv when the OP starts playing.

I'm so in for the hype train. gash... this made me cry

of all the digimon I watched. I still value this the highest( with only 4 series I watch. 01, 02, tamers and data squads)

EDIT:

It looks like I made a mistake. After checking wiki. it looks like the one I watched is tamers and not frontier. I just realized it when Obelisk ze Tormentor post those pictures. I'm familiar with those.

Gotta love gallantmon.

I haven't watch frontier yet or rather. I did watched it a few episode tha was shown in tv but not the whole series.

Do yourself a favor and go watch Tamers if you're ever gonna revisit the shows. The quality of writing surpasses all the other series (and little wonder, it was written by Chiaki Konaka, who also wrote Lain). It would easily be my favorite digimon series (of the ones I saw, I only watched up till frontier) if not for the fact that Adventure just holds a larger spot in my heart.

I will try to watch tamers if I found one on sales on the shops I visit if not.. well there can be download there someone though I'm kinda lazy to download and old show plus it will probably be slow with low seeds.

100% agree. For some reason few people (and by "people", I mean my friends specifically) seem to agree with me. Probably because they're just so swept up in nostalgia for seasons 1&2... but Tamers is my absolute favorite to date (I also stopped watching Digimon after Frontier). I'll admit that it had some points where it dragged, but on the whole, that was just some really quality stuff -- both in terms of plot and visuals.

Story-wise, Tamers is solid, but I’m not really sure about the visual & animation. Even when I watched it during my youner days (junior highschool, to be exact) I found the visual kind of a mixed bag (it's Toei after all). Still, the monster design is definitely a standout for me, especially the gorgeous Sakuyamon and the badass Beelzemon:

Tamers also had the best OP next to Adventure, "Biggest Dreamer" was cool and edgy

Not so much is the original Adventure, but I did it more for Zero-Two and Tamers.

Them being kids never stopped me, some of my favorite pairings in Anime were the "puppy love" ones involving kids.
