And hmm ... a shoujo adaptation by Bones, eh? Interesting....

For those not familiar with the series the link has a brief summary:

The story of the shojo manga revolves around Shirayuki, a beautiful girl working as a medicine woman who has red hair, which is very rare in her country. When she is proposed and chased after by the prince of her country, she runs away, only to meet Zen, the prince of a neighboring country. Finding respect for the young man, she decides to serve at his side as his court doctor.

I initially don't have any expectations for this anime up until now, however I must say that the beginning is overall passable so far. I actually liked the gentle and bright colors that bloom through a rather serene ambience and the author is even trying to retell the classical Snow White tale in her own subverted version. Story-wise, nothing too extraordinary happens right now, however I must say that the characters and overall setting really reminded me of Yona of the Dawn a lot, perhaps even showing its potential to be just as good as the latter, but who knows. I'll be watching this one depending on how much I will go far as well how my impressions will grow on me.

Signed, sealed and delivered. It is what it is, and it is a wonderful version of it -- at least through this first episode: a standard-issue shoujo fantasy made for a younger audience, perhaps, but able to soothe an adult soul.

Hayami Saori is at least as wonderful as I hoped. And her ED (which I guess may become the OP) shows off her supremely pretty voice in a way that it doesn't often get shown. And Ousaka Ryouta (Zen) is fairly meltable, too.

Nice colors. Nice animation. Nice setting. Nice, nice, nice.

Not only made for kids, but with Warner Brothers Home Entertainment as a sponsor, probably made to be dubbed into the US market, too.

I have made a characters/seiyuus page for this show, with pics of the main characters and their seiyuus, and a bit of info about each seiyuu.

That was wonderful.

Artwork is glorious while we get a nice intro of the main characters. I like Zen and Shirayuki's personality already just by what they have shown so far. And Shirayuki also seems to be intelligent already based on her knowledge of medicine. She has a lot of potential imo for the profession.

Music is nice too. This could end up as one of my favorite shows for the season.

Wow.

So, so, so enjoyable! Lovely, gentle, engaging, excellent VA work ... and just my style. This first episode did not disappoint in any way whatsoever. An excellent adaptation of the manga.

And Hayami Saori can sing quite nicely!
