Listening to the OP makes me think of the Muppets for some reason. I don't know why. It isn't Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem by any means. Must be something else.

Go Go Maniac is horrible. Just slowing it down a bit would be a drastic improvement, though still nowhere near Cagayake Girls. Judging from the way Yui's voice sounds, the studio guys sped up the singing for some damn reason.

The new OP has killed my ears. The new ED was pretty awesome, but Don't Say "Lazy" is still much better.

Actually, she should have been able to match the speed of the music if ithe chorus were longer by even half a second. I get the sense they did it just out of desire for some sort of style.

At least it's still better than Mayoi Neko's OP. That was worse by far.

The names (and covers) of the new OP/ED singles have been revealed, along with the B-side tracks.

Full info.

OP's B-side is "Genius...!?"
ED's B-side is "Our MAGIC"

The new opening is really catchy...been looping it for the whole night. Us two must be the very few who likes the new opening.

The ending feels somewhat...generic. It'll grow on me for sure, like most K-on music.

The new OP sucks IMO. It could grow on me, but def. a horrible first impression. The first OP was leagues better than this one.

I do enjoy the new ED though.

I love the new OP more than old, it's really catchy, and new ED is pretty nice need to listen to it more to decide how I feel compared to don't say lazy; though I love the animation for the new ED they all look simply moe in it .

I'll have to go along with the flow and say that I do prefer "Cagayake Girls" and "Don't Say Lazy" over the season 2 OP and ED. That said, both "Go Go Maniac" and "Listen!" do have their own charms - Yui's vocals in the OP may be hit-or-miss for some, but they do add to the whole "maniac" aspect of the song, and I found the guitar riffs to be pretty catchy.

"Listen!", on the other hand, has a 1980s Archies vibe to it - it's not as heavy/hard-sounding as "Don't Say Lazy", but I can imagine that that's what the Archies would sound like if they made their music a tad more heavy and complicated.

Damn, if only I didn't have a lot of assignments to work on and a lot of Nanoha crack!fics to write... I feel really inspired to work on a K-On!/Archie fic...

I forgot the Archie parallel... I keep comparing it to "The Monkees" but yeah, same dots connected.

I didn't dislike the OP but I'm just about convinced the studio guys turn up the Alvin-Chipmunk knob to make it fit into the OP time budget. Yui's voice is about as high as Westerners can tolerate anyway (my wife varies between describing it as "dolphin-speak" or "bat squeak"... and she's a small japanese with a high-pitch growly voice herself) but it seems compressed.

The ED is a great package (animation, music video, vocals, fashion, etc) but is just a bit short of Mio's character tune "Heart Goes Boom" in terms of catchiness for me.

Whatever.. .both tunes help expand my "Folder of Things K-ON!" music nicely.

Like the new OP better than Cagayake Girls. Don't Say Lazy is still the best of the EDs though

Going by the commercial, there's seems to be plenty of dress changes

But I'm curious about how much actual instrument playing they ended up doing.

I'm sure I saw pictures of them playing them on the official site's blog a while ago.

I fairly sure the main 5 seiyuus were taught to play their characters' respective instruments, judging by some other pictures and a live recording of a smaller event before that (though I have yet to find an actual video).

Oh well, I want to see the DVD of this event anyway, even if they didn't play them.
