As someone new to Magi I liked this episode. I felt I didn't really have a handle on Morgiana before this so I am glad they did an episode on just her. In previous eisodes I felt we only saw Morgiana through other characters but in this ep we saw Morgiana through her eyes.
Anyways I like all 3 main characters and think they complement each other well. I also expect they are wise & naive in different ways hence why I don't exactly agree that Morgiana & Aladdin are the simple ones & Alibaba is the more complex worldly one. But I think that is more a wait & see.

I agree with that, but I wasn't really talking about this episode in particular. I meant that introduction episodes in general don't always need to be just about that, and that expecting more from such episodes is not unreasonable in any way.

Have watched all 6 episodes just now and I have to say that I'm more hooked than I expected.
Lately none of the shows seems to rise a spark of interest in me, they are just something to watch in free time. But this one got me really engaged and wanting more. I expected it to be something like Fairy Tail, light with some action and comedy but Magi's story is actually much darker despite it's animation and I love it! The show has a good balance of everything. I hope it will keep it up and bring us to an epic conclusion.

DVD is currently ranked @ #52 while the Bluray is @ #108, Sinbad da boss drawing in dem fujoshis.
Well they'll either go into events after this arc or they'll pad things out with anime original stuff... (dat Yoshino). I guess the second OP will give us a hint to what they intend to do, if they show stuff from after the current arc or not. Last edited by Westlo; 2012-11-18 at 07:06. |

I don't think it was that rushed. Besides they needed to get to Alibaba's reappearance in this episode one way or another, since there's no other possible break point before that moment. All in all, the writers did the best they could.

Man, seeing Balbaad in full view, painted in color, was pretty awesome!
Oh, and I think Leaf Hero link is appropriate now.

I thought it was actually going pretty slow but then again I was highly anticipating Alibaba's reveal (which I saw coming a mile away) and was just hoping the episode would hurry it up.
This is definitely an interesting twist. Can't wait for the next episode.

Aladdin and Morgiana traveling together.
Can't wait to see all three of them together. So they picked up Sin and arrived to Balbadd. At least they got a free stay at an expensive hotel. That Sin was just too carefree.. Yet another explanation of rukh energy and Magi. The fog troupe problem was rather serious. Why would Alibaba rob people when he got all that wealth and title? Maybe it's something that in his blood... guess we'll find out next time.

Every Weeks I always see a lot of guys who have read the manga complaining about the adaptation and it pisses me off. You know, you don't have to criticize the advencement of the anime from the manga to show to the world that you are a TRUE, one of these man who knew Magi before everyone.
For the moment I'm not disappointed by this adaptation: it's really like I was imagined it. This last episode wasn't really rushed at all in my opinion ; they needed to show alibaba's face to create a good climax at the end of the episode. That's rather well made, no? The only thing that I could reproach at this adaptation is the inconsistency of the animation: it's all or nothing. The scene of fight with Morgiana in the episode 06 was really amazing, but to be honest, that's really the only one like that. When you see all the great animators who are currently working on the anime it's really depressing... (it was the parenthesis of the sakuga fan.) Anyway Magi is without a doubt the shonen of the year! |

Really, really liking the developments in this series. For as much as this show goofs around, it does a magnificent job of building a serious mood when it wants to. Quickly too; just like that. The balancing act between action, drama and comedy has been great so far, which is something I particularly appreciate.
Sinbad's character design looks fan-freaking-tastic (especially decked out in jewelry before he got robbed ), and I concur with aohige; Balbaad in full view was splendid to behold.
