I guess, but they were making the physical shields even before they even knew that attack existed. Seems like something they'd address right away with these opponents.
But that's a good point actually. Unless he's REALLY precise with that spell when he has to use it, it's going to make all his wingmen useless for a good while. |

To be fair, it will be the same with the Fortress Unit anyway. Divide Zero Eclipse not only shuts down all magic ...but ALL forms of energy xDU Be magic, eclipse or electricity (both ships systems failed and Subaru's bionics were greatly affected). So it doesn't matter really xD
I think Justin was talking about a unit that can produce "energy shields" by transforming magic into conventional energy just like the Strike Cannon and other equipements do (altough i want to know the specifics of the "Gladiator" that unit have lots of inconsistencies) which seems like a legit idea and will give the heroes back some of the lost flexibility they got with the new "shields" who are unpractical as hell compared with their previus defensive magic that allowed them to cast quick, light and highly maneuverable shields for all kinds of defense. Stripping the characters of their dynamic means of protection was a key part of the nerfing they suffered in FORCE. Specially for those who relied with certain frequency on said defensive magic like Nanoha or Signum. About the joke, i may not be original but it was part of the intention as Hayate's AEC also lacks overal originality ...it's just Nanoha's equipement with more shields attached to it. Yeah, very original.

In a series with a past full of cool, original, colourfull and individually tuned devices it's hard to see the heroes using all the same freaking gun xDU Sorry but that's pretty lame, that's another point against using the old cast in this story, if they wanted to write something like this a Gundam-like cast would be better suited than Nanoha and Co. xDU
Mass production models shoudn't be used by main characters xDU That's partially the reason i see 5th Gen Bardiche and Sword Breaker as the only worthy upgrades so far. No one else can use Sword Breaker cause it's designed to use a unique ability Subaru and only Subaru posses: her Oscillating Breaker. In any case over 90% of the jokes in these days aren't original either so get used to it and get over it xD

I don't think that's going to happen, Aki.

And i bet said pilot moved on quickly to better designs. That's also a common trope, a guy starts piloting common stuff until getting/stealing/falling on a much better model which will become it's stardard mecha from now on.
Part of me is still waiting for Nanoha to stumble upon a supreme weapon and start kicking butts for real. I was hoping for Signum too but the Wolks are too unimportant to get actual exclusive weapons xDU

No, he just bolted more weapons onto it. Then it blew up and he got another one. And then that one blew up...
The only reason characters in Gundam have custom units is to sell models of them. You could tell a story about a bunch of guys in grunt robots and it could be just as good as a main entry. It just depends on the writing. |

Exactly, at least that guy started piloting common dirt mechas and goes on and on with it. Nanoha and Co. have a very different backstory, one that doesn't exactly combines well with this sort of stuff. If they wanted to do something like this ...why not new characters?

If Curren gets actually beaten by that piece of junk she'll lose her category as a powerfull Big Bad xDU
...Boss Mode Tohma must be her opponent xD And i'm skeptical to call Signum's unsuccessfull capture attempt as "getting her revenge" xDU

I would think that the idea of highly unique weapons wouldn't fly in the more grimdark affair of Force. Seeing the elites geared up with the newly-minted cannons is shockingly logical of Tsuzuki.
(Granted, this is hard for me to take, being used to Tsuzukiverse tentacle raep transformations, beamspam that would leave you naked and animal people...) If this trend of rational thinking continues, I wouldn't be surprised if ad-hoc retrofit with gears sent from friends living in that hick non-administered world 97 will pop up... kinetic weapon ban be damned.
