Original anime 'Just Because' announced.

It involves Hajime Kamoshida (script) and Kiseki Himura (character design) as part of the staff.
Atsushi Kobayashi will be directing.

Info on the premise and characters:

The original anime Just Because! focuses on subtly portraying the feelings of a group of high school students nearing graduation. Near the end of second semester at third year, when students have very little time in high school left, and are just waiting for graduation, the appearance of a new transfer student begins to change what remains of their high school lives just as they were about to graduate.

Eita Izumi
Eita is a transfer student who has lived away from the town where Mio and the others lived for four years, but has now returned. He had been close friends with Haruto since middle school, and his transfer into their high school is a reunion for them.

Haruto Sōma
Haruto is a member of the baseball team, and someone who has already secured a job after graduation. He plans to hit the home run that he couldn't hit during the summer match, and confess to someone he likes.

Mio Natsumi
Mio was Eita and Haruto's classmate during middle school. She plans to enroll in college and is studying hard to make that happen. Her unrequited feelings for a middle school crush still influence her.

Hazuki Morikawa
Hazuki is a member of the school concert band that has already decided on her preferred college. Her family has tended to a farm since her grandfather's time. She does not stand out in class, and seems uninterested in romantic relationships.

Ena Komiya
Ena is a second-year student, and a member of the photography club that is close to being disbanded. In order to save the club, she plans to enter a photography competition. In search of a good picture, she sees the reunion between Eita and Haruto.

Episode 1:

This was really melacholic. Even the music really matches the feel of the show from the first episode.

Personally, it was alright. We got intro of the main characters in a typical school setting with some light drama (at the moment). It seems this anime has the usual slice of life/school norms. Even twitter...

I'm expecting these main characters' to intersect in this story with relationship angles. Mostly interested in seeing how they plan to adapt Mio's character. There's some baseball from this episode so maybe we'll get to see how the show will focus on the sport.

Not bad overall, I'm interested to see more.

Hmm, this was definitely better than I expected lol. The music was pretty good, the MC is not as boring as I expected (so far), no angsty love triangle between MC, Haruto, and Mio. Melancholic for sure lol, felt a little depressed watching this anime so far though

Looks like the cast has to deal with the looming end of their high school days (near-graduation melancholy), and the former middle school classmates reunite in the most unexpected way. The atmosphere was different but well done. I also kinda liked the "absence of key animation". Almost all of the scenes were made with constant movement. I also appreciated the focus on social media; makes this show quite timely.

Considering Pine Jam is a relative newbie, I hope this show maintains its animation consistency. They already got most of the imagery on point; the only thing of concern is whether they can maintain this level of quality.

EDIT: I was surprised that Kanagawa also has a suspension railway as Chiba. Turns out that Kanagawa has the Shonan Monorail, while the Chiba Urban Railway runs in Chiba.

EDIT2: The key visual has shown the possible relationship chart among the five main characters.

Ena seems interested towards Eita.
Eita likes Mio.
Mio has a crush on Haruto since middle school, but her feelings were unrequited.
Haruto wants to confess to Hazuki.
Hazuki is generally uninterested in romance.

EDIT3: The reason behind the title of the series is the tagline, which is あいつを好きな君の横顔が、たまらなく綺麗だったから— ("Just because the expression of you who loves him was so beautiful I couldn't stand it").

Well, Natsume looks to recognize Izumi at first glance. Shame it looks like they only met during middle school, but still, it's close enough for me. They have history, and I do wonder what it is.

Now my only problem is that the art inconsistencies reminds me so much of Konbini Kareshi. Apart from that, I loved the build up and SoL atmosphere. As a shipper, I'm a big sucker for romance, and even something low key as this had me on the edge of my seat. It may not look the best, but I do feel like it has charm in its own right.

Huh? Isn't it the other way around?

Also, I thought this was a great start. Wasn't looking forward to this. Was very surprised at how strong of a start it had. Am looking forward to episode two.

There were two main guys and 3 main girls. I don't necessarily think you're right lol. They could be different people, especially since he told him about her at the end there. Makes it seem unreasonable to assume they're the same person.

Pretty solid start, I thought. The themes of the tug of war between the trivial aspects of youth which take on such importance and the crushing burden of impending adulthood has pathos potential - it'll just depend on the execution.

AhhhH?!!!! ...Anyways, there wasn't really that much content to comment about, but I guess from bit that was in the episode, it's a love triangle between the baseball guy that likes the flat-chested Ai-chan, the protagonist-ish guy who likes baseball guy, and fake Ai-chan who likes the protagonist-ish guy. The production quality is very low though, quite noticeable. I mean, I'm not even going to point out where in the episode, but I'm sure you all noticed the scene where the mob girl slowly became smaller and smaller as she walked.
