Try it a few times, once you get used to eating durian, the smell actually feel good to you. The first time I saw durian is when I was 5 and I couldn't take the smell. It took me some time ( probably 2 years ) to get used to it, aka everyday seeing my family eating and telling me how delicious durian is and I would waste half of my life if I never try durian -.-.

IMO, durian's smell is nothing compare to Hong Kong's stink tofu. That thing really smell like shit!. The place I visited has only 1 store that sell stink tofu and yet, the whole area is filled with nothing but that shit-like smell ><. Anyone here has ever try that thing ?

I can't actually remember hating it... my mom told the story of my grandfather hating it until the children fed some to him. Maybe it take actually tasting it for the brain to register that this smell is actually tasty food.

Having said that, some of my friends dislike it because it taste too sweet

There are flavours that are bitter. I think that is fine because the smell is stronger.
