Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness [PS4, PS3]
And from out of nowhere.... (oh hey, the MC actually has something resembling a sensible name this time around!)

While I understand why Tri-Ace still release the game on the PS3 (not many have upgrade to the PS4 in Japan), I just hope they will give a bit more care and support for the PS4 version (better graphic, framerate...etc.. )

nice to hear Star Ocean 5. i've played Star Ocean 2, 3 and 4 and love them all. i love their
sci-fi space story...kay? the characters design looking pretty good, especially the male on the front.

BTW the gematsu article has updated with even more info which includes a mini interview between the producer and main programmer (and also the brainchild of the series) as well as higher quality Famitsu scans (sorf of still in parts). Your can see some other what are assume main party members.
Interesting enough there is rumor floating that this takes place between SO2 and SO3 which means technically it's another prequel. They really don't want any games set after SO3 do they? Anyway so chronologically: SO4>SO1>SO2>SO5>SO3. So Claude and co from SO2 could potentially appear here. Doesn't look like it unfortunately, but it doesn't look any worse than SO4 so I'll take it. Well that's good news to hear. Was wondering what might happen with Star Ocean, but glad they are working on Star Ocean 5.
Certainly thought 4 was not that good, but I think they can definitely make another great game with this setting so let's see what happens. I'm just glad to hear this is in the works. The characters look nice. If they want to take some cues from SO3 I think that's an ok move, it was a good game so no issues there.

You can't really have a game chronologically after 3 with the metaphysical mess that was the major twist. In fact I would say that playing the rest of the games retrospectively with SO3 in mind kind of feels... weird?
Am still stoked for this game in any case. Putting it between 2 and 3 seems to be the best place to be chronologically, especially since the focus seems to be a planet not yet aligned with the Earth Federation.

In reference known time periods of the games so far:
Roughly most of games in this have usually been about a decade of generation from each other. |
