Episode 08 Screencaps and Summary

I was slightly disappointed because this episode didn't feature Nekozawa-senpai - I guess the reasoning is probably because they crammed two chapters worth of material into one episode so they cut him out.
But in any case, the episode was still hilarious, way too many jokes to even mention. I'd say the S&M was the best part, but watching the guy's eyes bulge when Kyoya pulled out Haruhi photos was also really funny. And for once, Renge didn't make an appearance (again, probably b/c of time constraints).
Anyway, I haven't had this good a laugh since maybe School Rumble two weeks ago.

Probably one of the more serious episode of Ouran. The question about gender power is being addressed here. The episode is still funny in general although unfortunately it decides to condense the overall story and cut out all of the Nekozawa-related scenes

Hilarious episode the crab eating scene in particular. Haruhi as a little kid hiding from the lighting and thunder was super cute. I guess Tamaki won the little game since he found out her weakness. Kouya trying to make Haruhi pay with her body was awesome. I did miss Renge in this ep but there was so much going on I guess it's a tradeoff.

Ep6 I thought was the height of Renge's hilarity, in Ep7 it was a bit annoying. If she makes a comeback I hope it's not the same gag again.

As I expected this episode combined 2 manga chapters into one (for the first time), so a number of scenes were cut. However, what we got was better than I expected, so I'm somewhat relieved and enjoyed the ep.

Next week is the "zuka-bu", heheh.

As already pointed out, Nekozawa doesn't make any appearances - in the manga, it's his beach they go to. He has several scenes in the manga, but all get cut.

A minor change at the start was Haruhi looking at the sea. Though the lines are pretty much identical, in the manga, she's sitting on a rock right by the sea and the girls come over and splash some water on her - the image of Haruhi replying to the girls is much more powerful in the manga (the old "soaking wet guy = super handsome" cliche also used in chapter 1).

There's a couple of minor differences in the sea shell / creatures collecting stuff, nothing really major though - Kyouya's private army wasn't there in the manga though. I think they cut out the bit with Haruhi saying she likes the shellfish (?) shell and the others reacting to that.

In the manga, she isn't just pushed off the cliff, but gets punched too - and has a bandage on her head for the second half of the story.

Another cut scene is when Haruhi turns up in that frilly dress - the twins start "attending" to her, and Tamaki gets a nose-bleed (which Haruhi points out) from watching this.

When eating the food, Haruhi is more bratish in the manga - like handing him some crab, then telling him that it's empty. She also uses a crab claw to knock back Tamaki's attempts to eat. The others comments that commoners fights over food can be scary.

The Kyouya / Haruhi scene is pretty much the same, but in the manga, Kyouya seemed to be more affected by Haruhi's words - you see him having a flashback of Haruhi words on seeing through Kyouya (she looks rather cute at the time).

There's some minor differences in the bit when Haruhi is affected by the lightning. In the manga, Tamaki points out the wardrobe is metal (I think) so wouldn't be a good place to be if lightning hits, and Haruhi jumps out, and the doors hit Tamaki.

I actually think they did an excellent job with this episode considering they had to get a two part manga material into 1. I mean yes it was a pity to lose:

But I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless and thought they adjusted it cleverly. I was practically rollling on the floor with laughter esp. at:

Tamaki's baseball home run hit at the twins and appearing with an actual baseball bat in his hand in real life. Also, Mori looking at the seashell front swim suit (was he thinking it will be great on Haruhi?)

The agonizing wait for the raw of this episode was definitely worth it, I enjoyed every part of it

I think one of the funniest things I noticed just rewatching it now is that Tamaki's shorts have 'FATHER' written on them, I couldn't help but laugh at that.

Nekozawa as his "real self" in this episode. He was a blondie or had light-colored hair, no? Hehe, he looked pretty good in the manga.. what a waste to not see the Anime adaptation of him.

Also, a little help with Japanese if anyone can tell me the words Tamaki says near the end to Haruhi:

kore kara wo ore ga iru
omae ga hitori ni naranai _____ <- couldn't hear the last phrase
seze(sp?) me wo hanasanai koto wasuru yo

(I'm hoping the people who understand Japanese won't need this in a spoiler tag assuming they've already watched it. >_<)

I was glad that I didn't download the RAW, Since understanding what they are saying was the funniest moments of the show.

I rated this one a 10. Everything in it tickled me pink. I could almost see the horns sprout when the twins thought up their new 'game'. I thought the addition of the police force's apology made me smile. They weren't in the manga.

All the changes they've made in the anime I've enjoyed. I don't mind that they left Nekozawa out because when/if they do the chapter about

seeing his real look will be more of a shock.

I hear there's only going to be 13 eps for this series. It's so good I wish there would be more!

Hooray. This is the episode of Ouran I've been waiting for since the beginning, ie the episode with some character/relationship development. It was fairly well done, but I'm still hoping for far more in the future. Fortunately the comedy is still good, but as I've said before, I think the days in which Ouran can continue to backhand the shoujo genre and remain fresh and funny are numbered. I think the fact that the Renge running joke is starting to get tiresome is indication of that.

Seeing more of Haruhi's female side - this episode doesn't get 10, it gets 100.

Brilliant episode, & for some reason i had a feeling it was gonna be lightning - it all made sense in the end.

Great episode, i was disappointed with the weak humor in epi7 but this episode 8 made all nice and good again

The rain clouds gave it away but imo, the closet scene with Haruhi and Tamaki was really well done, +10 rabu rabu points for Tamaki?
Kyouya is still quite a mystery but this episode revealed some of inner personality which is nice to see, Mori-senpai though... well.... i guess he is going to stay as the homo side character in this show

Quick, somebody arrest the producers of this series! A pool episode followed by a beach episode and the main female characters wears a swim suit only in other characters' dreams? That must be illegal, right?
Tamaki was hilariously overdramatic was usual and him calling Haruhi his daughter seemed really funny for some reason.

The character development for Kyouya, Haruhi and Tamaki are also shown here. What an enlivening episode! There's hope for Tamaki and Haruhi ending up together: this is BONES after all.

I rate this a perfect, perfect 10. It was also funny when it needed to be, but best of all, it gave new light to the characters.

I feel the same way.

Gave this ep a 9. The highlight is obviously the character development. It is too bad however that they had to compress the story, and wonder exactly how often they'll pull that in the future.
