On a side note. Since they are following real life, I wonder when we're gonna get the anime version of Mainichi Oukan and Takarazuka Kinen 1998. They already introduced El Condor Pasa and this episode showed Air Groove. So everything is ready for these big showdowns. I hope they won't skip them.
From the interview they said they won't 100% following real life, i'm not spoilering since it's kinda original show and i don't really know which part they will start the "if route", maybe Suzuka won't hurt that bad? i mean since Uma Musume is human-like, leg broken won't be as bad as actual horses.

Also they said no beach episode lol, and won't be focus on idol part(just like first 3 episodes).

^I didn’t think they would follow Silence Suzuka’s fate exactly...you know all things considering that’d be a bit much for this type of show. I guess I can’t say I’m surprised they’re changing certain events of Special Week’s career. Plus they’re already doing the whole idol thing....

I doubt any of the girls will die. But it may not be beyond the scope of the series to include career-ending injuries.

I agree here—in fact I would be surprised if they didn’t.

They still have to sell the mobage so I don't think they would go for career-ending injuries. But I could see them go for a injury just serious enough to put Suzuka out of commission for a season or so. Just to give the show a dramatic final.

The studio already said that they don't intend to recreate the real life history. They will change what they want.

IMO I consider this anime setting to be a form of horse afterlife, so it would not be about making everyone suffer twice. That they could live a life they couldn't have if they were living horses with genetically affected health issues.

'I want to be a racehorse who makes people dream...'

Aren't they the dreams of gamblers hoping to make a pile on the races? Rather amusing that the key element of betting on horses gets completely ignored. When are the Yakuza going to try bribing Special Week to throw a race, and get kicked in the face?

This doesn't seem bad for a cute girls show. The dojjiko thing is managed very naturally, the girls have believable, non-exploitative characters, and don't take any nonsense without giving it a kick in the face.

And yet they are doing so, so we get concerned. Special Week and Seiun Sky's wins and losses are the wins and losses that their namesakes had. Grass Wonder suffering a leg injury and being unable to compete for most of a season was a real event. They are making history repeat, so we are justified in looking at the more drastic events in these horses' careers, and worrying that they will be adapted in some way.

Watched episode 3:

Now, things are getting interesting.. I guess Special Week needed to lose, so she could learn things.

How nice, Suzuka help ready Special's horse shoes. I guess getting kicked by a horse girl with racing shoes on with result in a terrible injury. o_o

Not much else to say except I'm enjoying the singing and racing.

Looking forward to next week's episode.

Good episode—I don’t really have anything else to say about it though.

El Condor Pasa only lost once in his Japanese racing career, so... yeah. A genuine champion.

He lost to Silence Suzuka. Unfortunately, it looks like the anime's gonna give that glory to Special Week instead. That's so unfair. Suzuka's getting the short end of the stick in this show.

Really? Silent Suzuka isn’t participating in this race so why do you say that?

El Condor Pasa didn't participate in the Japanese Derby, but Special Week did, and won it. It is very unlikely they're going to alter the winner of the race, so if El Condor Pasa is actually going to participate, she's probably going to lose, and mess up her historical record.

The thing is, it mattered that the only Japanese racehorse El Condor Pasa lost to was Silence Suzuka. They were two of the very best of their time. Handing over the victory against El Condor Pasa to someone else... just feels kind of like it's insulting to both of them.

In terms of the show, Suzuka winning a victory against one of the strongest horsegirls in the series should be a major moment... but if Special Week has already done that, the impact just won't be there.

El Condor shouldn't participate either. They're changing history so Special Week can have a shot at breaking her winning streak. In real life, it was Suzuka who broke the winning streak in Mainichi Okan.

This is the Japan Cup yes? El Condor Pasa did compete against Special Week and Air Groove in the 1998 one though.

No, this is Tokyo Yuushun, also known as the Japanese Derby. El Condor Pasa didn't participate in this race.

I know next to nothing about Japanese race horse history, but deviating from real history is fine.
