You should really read the manga, since that is MAJOR spoiler.
If you watched anime yuo can safely read manga from Chapter 40 or so, since the anime adaptation is 100% true to the manga.

It took time for someone to reply on my post, so during that time I read the manga and I'm now at volume 11.

It was a major twist when the two got their identities revealed, also

^That question was not answered yet. Not even in the latest manga chapters. Some people in the internet present their "speculation" as "facts" regarding that question, but in reality it is still unknown.

I've been reading the manga and I'm curious as to what will be included in season 2 of the anime as there doesn't appear to be that much content, not enough as not to stretch season 2 out like season 1 did. That was just about the biggest thing that bugged me about the show, I'm hoping S2 doesn't do the same.

So I was wondering, if it's being released in 2016, is it likely to extend beyond the current manga?

I have no way of knowing what they will or will not include in the second anime, but
I hope they have the good sense to handle it as they did the first one. That was
excellent. It was not a discrepent spin off in direction but a beautiful supplement.

Personally, I think it would be good if they went no further than chapter 51 of the
13th manga volume. This would be a nice breaking point as it would encompass
everything connected with the supposed breach of wall Rose and its immediate
aftermath, just as the first arc ends with the immediate aftermath of the titan
fight at Stohess.

Confirmed two-cour. Idk if it's a consecutive two-cour or a split-cour tho.

Quality takes time. The break between S1 and S2 was worth it, IMHO. The manga is continuing and the popularity almost ensures a successive season and that makes the wait partially bearable, for me at least. With that said, after the second half of S3, I do not think another season will be coming in 2020. There is not too much material given S3's pace. Expect a wait similar to that between S1 and S2. :/

Not gonna lie, the 4 yr wait killed me, but when I saw the result, I agree that the wait was worth it. AoT's popularity is big and consistent enough to warrant them animating the entire series. I'd rather wait another 4 yrs for more chapters which properly concludes the story before they animate it.

I definitely don't need or want them to rush for an anime-original ending unless Isayama himself is involved and confirms that it is canon. Anything other than that would leave me feeling quite dissatisfied and would lower my overall opinion of the anime.
