Regarding: Where to buy manga (possible new place?)

Hi all,

just want to contribute a little in this forum of what I've found.

Beside all those major online bookstore and the giant anime specialty stores.
I recently encountered this site that specialize in manga books (domestic one that is)

www.justmanga.com

I found them in google when i was looking for place to buy the berserk manga (vol 2, yeah!). their price on manga books are the best I've seen and shipping fee is quite reasonable.

I ordered couple of books just now and get their free shipping deal. will let all of you know how it goes.

I'm a little worried, those prices look too good to be true. Fruits Basket volume 1 for only $5.99? What's the catch? Let us know if it all goes smoothly for us.

hehe, now that you mentioned it. That made me kinda worry too. (well, worse come to worse i can always file a dispute :-P ) But I did buy fruba 1 in that order as well (eventhough I prefer manga like berserk or naruto, its too good to pass up and i figure my cousin will like it ) who knows, that price may be a typo or something. heck, even amazon and dell make typo on their prices.

now as for my order's status. they shipped my package out the next day and have a order tracking page which link to my tracking number and other good stuff. So far so good, will keep all of you posted if anyone care to know...

I don't know about that place. They sell "import" DVDs with English/Chinese subtitles. The DVDs are hard to locate on their site (Don't seem to come up in a search) you have to go to the manga of the series and it will say "customers who bought these also bought" and it lists DVD sets for cheap. Don't know if they are considered "bootleg" or not.

Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the manga of course.

okay guys, sorry for the delay. i've been in a longer than expected vacation and with no internet access :-)

Here is a summary of my experience, roughly 5 days after i ordered. I received the package from justmanga. The package was good, the manga books were shrink wrapped and they are published from tokyopop, viz and darkhorse as expected.

the fruits basket manga was really at 5.99, not sure why they do it but i think it could be some kinda of promotion. Overall, I am very happy with the order and definitely will buy manga from them again.

As far as those dvd goes, I've look around and only see the domestic dvds in their site (which ironically are pretty pricy compare with animenation or animecornerstore) so you'll be the judge :-)

Great, thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear they're legit and the shipping is fairly fast.

Go to the Bookstore near your house, or order it, either online or at the bookstore. You can order at amazon.com, too!

Wow, that was about 8 months ago and I finally got around to ordering from justmanga. I second what megacoolspot said: they ARE legit and their prices for most manga -new- are the cheapest on the market:$11.49 for the $13.95 manga, $8.29 for the $9.99 manga, $7.19 for $7.95 and so on and so forth. Plus they also have previews for some of the titles online so you can browse through them before buying. Shipping could be a little bit faster, but you get free shipping for orders over $40 (FREE, I TELL YOU!) so I'm not really complaining. I haven't actually recieved the items yet, but I have recieved confirmation that they're on the way, I can hardly wait!! XD

EDIT: Gehhh... It took over 10 days for them to get my package to me. I was on the verge of calling up the post office and the company when my books finally arrived. On the plus side they're all brand spanking new and properly packaged as well, and it was all USPS's fault anyway. I'm definitely ordering from justmanga again!

For people in the Los Angeles area... There is Kinokuniya or Asahiya. I think Asahiya has an online ordering, but I've never really asked the Asahiya in J-town until it was too late and they were closed.

*stares at your post a little shocked*

Haha, that would be me! But sadly, I don't read Japanese or Chinese... but, are they cheaper than the English versions? Because I could always find text translations online.... the only places I shop are Chapters, The Comic Shop or Sophia Books. That Iwase Books place you listed I may go check out tomorrow ^_^
