Hmm, another eroge adaptation? I hope this fares well, given the medium's extreme ups and downs. They should get a decent animation company for this and most importantly: a good director. I don't want this to be anything like the 11eyes anime, which I found amusingly bad, but incredibly lame and forgettable.

Well...I'm glad to hear about it. I liked what little I read of the manga. There haven't been many ren'ai games adapted to anime in the past 9-12 months. They used to come out 2-3 every season, but the genre likely wore out it's welcome after eleven years. DVD sales for them might have been mediocre. The games adapted lately seem to be more of the mystery or RPG type.

Is it my imagination or has there been more complaining and negative rep flinging around the board lately? Are ANN people migrating here?

I totally agree, but I just want to remind all game players (current and future) that any game spoilers or even slight hints revealing or suggesting what specific bits of "trivial info" are important in this thread -- even behind spoiler tags -- will be dealt with most severely.

Not that anyone here has said anything remotely bad or questionable so far, but I know how tempting it is to be like "oh pay attention to this! It's important!" I'll be hard for me to keep my own mouth shut when the time comes.

I think the operating word missing there is "yet", as in "no fandisk yet". They released the Yoake fandisk just within the last year, and that was many years after the original game. So we still could get a Fortune Arterial fandisk, but we may have to wait a while. Perhaps the anime would make for a good opportunity -- hard to say.

They totally have an extra heroine waiting in the wings though. Whether they'll bring her out, however, is another story. >>;

I think the decline has more to do with how games are selling, especially console ports. There's no suitable successor to the now irrelevant PS2, which makes anime (typically launched to coincide with a console game release) less effective as a money-making tool.

I've read many complaints about the poor quality of recent adaptations, and the root of the problem is likely the same. If they don't think they have much to sell, they'll allocate a tiny budget to the anime.

Without adequate time and money, it'd take a neat trick for anyone to produce something good. Madhouse, GoHands, and even Dogakobo were certainly capable studios.

I certainly wouldn't count out the PS2 just yet; they're releasing a port of ef A Fairy Tale of the Two on the PS2 late this month.

It's not just about the budget, most animators would love to work on projects with higher profiles, and generally porn adaptations are at the bottom of anyone's barrel. Case in point, the reason why so many adaptations have been so bad is probably because animators simply don't give a fuck. Take for instance animators of Shugo Chara that have really been the success behind the series. They put more work into it than the budget allowed and churned out a very good product. You won't get that kind of dedication from staffers who don't like project they've been assigned to.

Yes this anime has Vampires, yes this is a harem anime and yes there is every archetype of girls you can layout. But let me tell you the main story is ironically not as generic as you'd think, and having vampires just serves as a vessle to push for the theme rather than put a crazy gimmick in the story.

More like the anime that had suckass quality were made during the Moe boom during the past few years, where they'd keep making baseless anime at record time to feed Otaku.

PS2 is still popular in japan for non big graphic projects

Sincerely hoping that Fortune Arterial doesn't become another cabbag..
I wonder how [insert whatever studio animating FA] will handle Bekkankou's art.

I'm not gonna give up on this quite yet, but the production staff makes this look quite bleak. Both ZEXCS and feel have done almost nothing but inbetween animation and fanservice/harem series. I haven't seen any of the series done by the director, but they don't look so good.

Edit: Although, the promo art looks quite fine and faithful to the original character designs.

Only D.C.S.S., not any of the others. That being said, the writer is apparently Katsumi Hasegawa, who has been the chief writer for the past 3 D.C. anime series. With ZEXCS/feel doing the animation, it's very much a D.C. staff revival (minus the character designer, who -- I agree with Tempester -- seems to have done a great job on adapting the original art -- very nice!). As one of the ~25 people in the English-speaking world who really liked D.C.S.S., I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with the source material. Hopefully they can get all the fanservice out of their systems with Kiss X Sis and can treat this in line with what the source demands (which has some fanservice, but not that much).

I am fairly happy with Feel being up there, as they have produced a number of series i have been very satisfied with (with Futakoi Alternative remaining as one of my favorite shows up to date), and don't really have anything on their list that could be written off as a failure, so ...yeah, while they might not be the best(?) studio out there, they are certainly good enough in my books. I am notably less happy with ZEXCS being in there though, but we shall see. Don't really mind what they do with the fanservice one way or another (I guess it would be naive to expect none ), so long as they do the original story some justice, and preserve what made it a fantastic read and one of my favorite vampire fictions up to date

Any of the sort of stuff that would be on the official webpage in the character profiles would be okay, it seems to me. I would suggest that we don't discuss anything further than what happens in the Demo (which goes to the main OP in the game). If we want to discuss more than that, we could create a game thread.

Welp, here goes...profile 1, the main heroine, so to speak.

Sendou Erika(romanization kills the U, but I'm going with the kana)
B-day: June 7th
Blood type: B
Height: 159.8 cm
Sizes: 82C-55-83

A 5th year student(Junior/Middle School and High School are presumably combined, which means 11th Grade Junior) and in the class next to the Protagonist. Excels in both Academic and Athletic in addition to being nice looking. Due to being Vice President of the Student Council, her popularity is also one of the top.

She has a curious but straightforward personality. Her eyes are always bright and shining, looking for something interesting. Once she starts something it's very hard to stop her, if not to the point of being powerful enough that the stopping people get dragged into the mess as well. She's not completely a "look-before-you-leap"-type, as she tends to intricately plan such things.

Her older brother Iori is the Student Council President. On top of his good looks and personality, it's no question that he's famous around the school.
