Ep 05

You know, I have been pretty impressed with this series so far - it has kept some pretty standard PreCure elements, but has been able to be pretty individual as well. The story consistently moves forward and the characters are interesting, but in a "normal" way without being "unique" in a negative sense or "odd".

Nice to see all the PreCure finally joining together ... but it is interesting that what brought it about was by Kirara seeing Haruka's intrinsic goodness and genuine kindness and finding it attracting her on a deep level hard to fully get but strong in its pull. Minami admitted to being "thrown off" in the same way. Interesting, and consistent with how Kirara has been presented thus far, that it would be this that pulled her into committing to help the PreCure as opposed to "saving the world as a place where she could fulfill her dreams and ambitions".

I find myself more engaged with the "PreCure lead" of this season that with the lead in Happiness Charge, but I gotta admit that I am liking this season's "Yellow PreCure" as well - Cure Twinkle is a strong character thus far, as is Cure Flora. Hoping Cure Mermaid will be able to get a bit more attention in the series and stand out more, and not get the shaft like Cure Honey did in Happiness Charge or Cure Rhythm did in Suite.

For now the series is holding, but as usual, it's better to judge in the long run. I liked HaCha at the beginning but after half the series the story went nowhere and they even forgot some plot points. Smile kind of deflated after the halfway point as well.

Ep 06

Wow ... that was a classic PreCure ep of what the PreCure had to do after they had all assembled, but somehow it really clicked and fit nicely for me, and even felt kinda ... erm ... "fresh" or "new", I guess?

Some of the things I especially liked included:

1. being able to see the final member of the trio of generals, known as the "Dusketeers" - Close, Shut and in this ep Lock. We also finally got to see Queen Dyspear.

2. having all the PreCures finally interact with Prince Kanata, yes, but also to see Kanata recognize with Haruka and tell her a little more of how they initially met. There was something about it that worked nicely, I thought.

3. finally, something which never occured to me regarding the OP sequence; strength, beauty and grace actually is a reference to qualities each of the three symbolize: Flora - strength, Mermaid - beauty and Twinkle - grace. Also thought their first ever group transformation was pretty good.

Agreed - you are quite right regarding Happiness Charge. Smile did slow down too. Neither of those proved to be that big of a hinderance for me personally, but I could see how it would hamper the enjoyment of the series of the whole to be sure.

But even if they drop the ball later on for now they are doing well in my opinion - especially after this episode with the 9 other dress up keys as temp goals and the "princess trainings" with the aim of becoming a Grand Princess (i.e. the one who can utilize the power of the 12 keys) the story telling to come looks pretty good. Now is only to see if they can execute it well....

Doesn't hurt to be hopeful for now, eh? ^^

My Mini Princess Review 06

Pros: The Princess of Flowers is just a bud, how ironic.
Pros: Miss Shamour is so Frenchy, I love her.
Pros: Great to see more backstory of the Dysdark of how they took over Hope Kingdom.
Pros: Dyspear looks frighting and powerful, THAT IS A VILLAIN.
Pros: Prince Kanata. You done so much in 6 episodes than a certain god did in 49 episodes.
Pros: Interesting, Dyspear wants to destroy the keys.
Pros: So nine more keys they have to get, I guess Scarlet's Keys are kept secret or maybe dyspear already have them.
Pros: SHIPPING Haruka and Kanata
Pros: Lock is a great villain, He's certainly the most dangerous of the trio

Overall: A-
This was no filler episode by a long shot, Kanata return was really anticipated for me and it brought it. BEST PRECURE EVER

summary of ep. 8 & 9 is about minamin who said she busy chasing her dream to haruharu, that I read in some site.
so, I think they're not too forget about minamin.

my fav character so far is kirara, she's diligent. two, haruharu, trait pink personality in precure showing in her personality, and minamin in place three because she's not focused yet.

I hoping minamin get more spotlight too. although, kirara is more important to me.

Maybe it was the fact that I burst watched the first 6 episodes in a couple days, but I'm getting behind this one.

Precure shows can sometimes be hit and miss for me, but right now it's looking pretty good. I think one positive is that Pafu and Aroma are actually likable mascots. In comparison to say Hummy from Suite, I actually like these two.

The three main girls are also all likable characters. Haruka is the classic hard worker who is certainly a bud at the moment, but is so positive that you can't help but cheer for her. Is a nice point that the only key that left well before the attack was hers. She was just chosen that early and has that much potential.

Kirara is probably my favorite at this point thanks in part to the focus she got. Again a serious hard worker, but one who is actually well on her way to her goals. That episode just focusing on her daily schedule just amazes. I'm not sure how many could really just give their all from start to finish all the time like that. I actually understood why she initially didn't want to do it, hard to fit in being a super hero. Just a really likable person who is driven.

Minami probably is in third for the main girls, but will wait for her to get more focus. Another classic type. Really talented, but is hard to approach. Which is too bad since she's a really kind person who gets idolized but left alone most of the time. Definitely talented, but also having put in the work. She hasn't really stood out, but is still likable.

Props to Kanata. Clearly that guy is staying busy. Actually fighting on the front lines while leaving the key hunt (gotta be a hunt for something) to the girls while he does what he can. He's not hiding out, but fighting for his kingdom. The connection with Haruka isn't bad either, can definitely get behind them .

Overall pretty good start. Look forward to when these generals get a bit more involved than summoning monsters. No matter how impressive Lock appears, if he doesn't attack himself then he can only be so intimidating.

Started late... but now on episode 3.

Hmm, the series seems good enough. Cure Flora has a personality that's a little similar to Nozomi from Precure 5.. And I like the new costumes.

Enemies now use "Zetsuborg", hmm, looks cool. Going to follow this series a bit.

But I'm Cure Flora....

When will they 'accidentally' or 'purposely' find a Secret Keeper....
Fresh: Transform!
Doki Doki: This is a P.A. announcement from Cure Heart. I'm Mana Aida.
HappinessCharge: I'm not Cure Lovely. (Seiji: Not gonna fall for that one.)

Ep 07

Seems the series might follow the pattern of focusing on each member of the newly assembled team for a few eps apiece. Is fine with me, but I will be interested to see what they do with the content and characters of those eps proper. HeartCatch and Suite did a pretty good job with the "side characters" I thought. Be interesting, for example, if Yuki shows up in later eps and even comes to be fond of Haruka.

Was thinking the other day that the pattern of a certain, set number of initial goals to be reached (in this case the 9 princess keys) that are expressed through "mini arcs" has not been used in a while ... last time I remember it being used was the in Splash when there were a set number of fountains to be restored. Can anyone else remember a PreCure series using a set numbered pattern like this will and Splash did? No others come immediately to mind. Smile PreCure had a limited number of the decor, but it was an ep by ep kinda thing, and "counting" them or focusing on mini arcs like Splash did was not part of the picture if I remember correctly.

I mentioned it before, but one thing I like about the series thus far are the villains - Close, Shut and Lock (never mind Dyspear) come across as just plain creepy and scary individuals.

It feels weird just now having watched the first two episodes, but it really is a solid start to the series. Likeable and strong characters, an actually threatening looking general (if not Zetsuborgs), and fairies that don't seem to be really annoying? Count me in!

Haruka trying to be flexible made me laugh pretty hard, although I felt bad when she hurt her ankle. Sorry, Haruka-chan.

And a Cure fighting underwater? Has that happened before?

It's hard remembering ~500 episodes and over 20 movies.

I remember mermaids from Smile as well, uh...episode 30, where they travel to various places (thanks Cure Wiki!).

Yeah, Yes did have some good animation, aside from the occasional traditional PreCure animation derp. I liked Yes 5 a lot, and GoGo wasn't that bad.

I also watched the other few episodes of Princess and my opinion hasn't changed. What we've seen is still great. Also, it was pleasantly surprising to see a Cure say "Nope, I'm not going to do it. Here's your transformation thingie."

For a Cure prospect to even say such a thing is mind blowing. I'm sure there have been other cases of reluctance, but to just outright say it without skipping a beat. Wow.

It would have been refreshing (and unexpected) if they somehow found a loophole and could have somebody else be the third Cure. Then again, destiny and all that. At least she ended up joining anyways.

Ah, Kurumi. They managed to transform Milk (who I couldn't stand through all of Yes! Five) into a character that I actually liked quite a bit. Such a shame that she somehow got so UTTERLY nerfed after she joined the team, though.

And you've just listed every example of it happening that I can think of. As far as I can recall, it is far more common for Precures to not have any civilians who know their identity than it is for the opposite. Seiji and such are exceptions rather than the rule.

Yes! Five had a set number of pinkies that needed catching (55, or something like that), and Yes! Five GoGo had four rulers that needed finding...

Watched episode 4:

So Cure Twinkle is the cure that's "hard to get". Well, she's a busy model after all.

But they would probably convince her in a few more episodes. A friend watched the episode with me, and she thought that Kirara is a snob when Haru first encountered her. xD

Hmm, and finally.. why so many keys? Just a speculation - getting additional keys might allow them to wear alternate costumes.

12 Cures or more Form Changes - pick one!

Seriously though, I don't think they'd have twelve Cures after last season's Cure Fiesta.

Maybe if they have a Zodiac PreCure season in the future.

Yeah, I'm betting on alternate forms. Like instead of sticking in their key again for an elegant form they use a different one for an unique power or finishing attack. There might be another Precure added, but probably not many. They had a limited supply of those perfume containers, that's the limiting thing numbers wise.

I can see the first impression of Kirara not being the best one. But that makes sense since we were seeing it from the point of view of the main cast not from Kirara who actually is really busy and might not get why people are suddenly invading her personal space.

Oh I just thought it would be more common in future generations...

Smile didn't count since they forgot about it (Cure March).
In Heartcatch, Tsubomi's grandmother was a comrade so it didn't count...
