I wasn't certain if Kanade would change her mind and try to win her second tiara. Didn't happen. Ruri claims her tiara!!! Perfect ending!

Dual characters with same seiyuu winning the same tournament:
Nanoha/Rika Furude (Yukari Tamura) win AST
Homura/Hitagi (Chiwa Saito) win KBM (when it was still active)

Now Kanade/Ruri (Kana Hanazawa) win ISML

Interesting that there were no ISML 2008 characters in the finals at all this year. None.

While in some respects that is kind of sad, in another way it proves a point I made against the idea of limits to the number of years a character can participate. They will last as long as the majority think they are moe enough to play. When the fanbases finally turn enough away form them, they will lose their support in ISML and fad away. Eventually. No need for some random limit on them participating.

Congrats to Gokou "Kuroneko" Ruri on winning the Heavenly Tiara! I'm amazed that another character on Kanade's level actually appeared. If Kanade was to lose, I always thought it would be due to a characters getting a sudden one time boost in strength like Misaka did. However, starting roughly during the Amethyst period, Kuroneko started to show she really could face Kanade as an equal or even better. No tricks or one time rallies would be needed, Kuroneko would have the power to straight up win. I was actually a bit worried when Kuroneko lost to Kanade in the Circlet finals, but she won where it counted and is now the ISML 2013 champion!

3rd, 1st then 2nd. Kanade proven to be an unbeatable force since she debuted in ISML. I guess she's only nearly unbeatable now. Taking a loss here shouldn't get Kanade fans down. Kanade may now have a legitimate rival, but Kanade is still a world ahead of everyone else. It may still be quite a while yet before she falls enough to let the rest of the field catch her. Also Kuroneko won't have a recent season 2 to work off next time. Becoming the ISML 2014 Champion and first repeat champion is a goal very much in reach for Kanade.

Eucliwood has still got it. I think some people weren't happy with Eucliwood beating Misaka in Aquamarine 1 but this shows it wasn't a fluke. Even now Eucliwood feels like she's more popular than she really should be. However, she's clearly verified her level of power time and again. Maybe if she gets a season 3 soon, she might be able to challenge Kuroneko and Kanade someday.

If Misaka would just bring in the extra power we know she has in every match, another championship win is possible. However, until this day comes we'll probably keep seeing Misaka with high finishes but no new Tiaras. Overall it doesn't seem like she benefited too much from Railgun season 2. She may be reaching the limit of her base power level. She'll still be a strong force for many years to come, though.

People have been down on Nova's performances but Mashiro really is very strong. Looking at all of her performances, it looks like she just had a bad match against Eucliwood which was unfortunate. Even though she finishes in fifth, Mashiro could be the third strongest character right now. She definitely competitive with Mikoto and Eucliwood and I'd be tempted to pick Mashiro if she faced one of those two. Unfortunately, Kuroneko and Kanade are just too powerful for her. If those two drastically fell in strength, Mashiro would definitely be in the running for a Tiara. Also, maybe if Sakurasou gets a season 2, Mashiro could rise it to make it an Elite three who stand above everyone else.

Ayase has been really enjoyable to watch all year. Tier 7? There aren't even 6 characters in both divisions who are stronger than her! Her story has ended along with her series so this is likely the best she'll ever do. Hopefully she manages to stay strong next year. Unfortunately, she probably isn't the type of character who can maintain a high level of strength for years on end without new material. Maybe she'll surprise me. She's already done that a dozen times or more.

A disappointing year for Asuna considering the inital hype. She was supposed to be the strongest character from the previous year and perhaps even be a serious challenger for Kanade. Neither of these things turned out to be true. 7th place isn't bad, though. Sword Art Online has more material that I'm sure will be animated eventually. Maybe Asuna can improve on this rank in the future.

4-6-7-8. Very slowly Azusa is slipping down the ranks. It's just downhill for here from here as K-On gets older. I'm happy to see she's still doing quite well and hope she can do it for as long as she can.

For large parts of the regular season, Rikka looked like she might be in the running for the strongest character in Nova. It didn't really pan out for her and her postseason wasn't too great. Fortunately for her, Chuunibyou season 2 has already been confirmed. Maybe she can use it to catapult herself up the rankings next year.

Not much to say on Kuroyukihime. She's looked like a strong but not quite #1 Nova character for the whole year. That's pretty much how she finishes as well. Accel World season 2 is always a possibility. She's got a chance to improve her rank as well.

7-6-5-4-11? It's been years but time may finally be catching up to Taiga. Being able to grow in strength without any new material wasn't going to last forever and it seems to be coming to an end. While Taiga still looked quite good in the regular season, she was faultering quite a bit in the playoffs. Her regular season self would have been able to manage 6th or 7th instead of the 11th place she got in the end. Unfortunately, Taiga will just fall from here. Taiga did great these last few years and should be proud of her achievements. It'll still be sad to see Taiga slowly fade away.

From 14th to 12th, Kobato improves slightly from last year. Sena manages 16th place two years in a row. Nanami in 13th and Inori in 15th are mostly just happy to be in the playoffs. Everyone here will need some luck if they want to make it back to the combined finals next year.

Kirino in 14th is a bit disappointing when Ayase is 6th and Kuroneko is 1st. Kirino really didn't have a very good postseason despite looking quite good at the end of the regular season. I expected her to be closer to 7th or 8th instead of 14th. This year was probably her best shot at having a good performance so it's too bad she didn't do that well.

That's my thought on everyone for now. Congrats again to Kuroneko on winning and everyone else for even making it to the top 16!

Congrats to Kuroneko. It looks like it'll be some time yet before ISML has a 2-time Tiara winner.

Given how Kirino did surprisingly poorly relative to Ayase and Kuroneko, I have to wonder if some voters were voting in protest to how Ore no Imouto ended.

Dual characters with same seiyuu winning the same tournament: Nanoha/Rika Furude (Yukari Tamura) win AST Homura/Hitagi (Chiwa Saito) win KBM (when it was still active) Now Kanade/Ruri (Kana Hanazawa) win ISML __________________

While in some respects that is kind of sad, in another way it proves a point I made against the idea of limits to the number of years a character can participate. They will last as long as the majority think they are moe enough to play. When the fanbases finally turn enough away form them, they will lose their support in ISML and fad away. Eventually. No need for some random limit on them participating. __________________

Team Rocket Elite Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008	Congrats to Gokou "Kuroneko" Ruri on winning the Heavenly Tiara! I'm amazed that another character on Kanade's level actually appeared. If Kanade was to lose, I always thought it would be due to a characters getting a sudden one time boost in strength like Misaka did. However, starting roughly during the Amethyst period, Kuroneko started to show she really could face Kanade as an equal or even better. No tricks or one time rallies would be needed, Kuroneko would have the power to straight up win. I was actually a bit worried when Kuroneko lost to Kanade in the Circlet finals, but she won where it counted and is now the ISML 2013 champion! 3rd, 1st then 2nd. Kanade proven to be an unbeatable force since she debuted in ISML. I guess she's only nearly unbeatable now. Taking a loss here shouldn't get Kanade fans down. Kanade may now have a legitimate rival, but Kanade is still a world ahead of everyone else. It may still be quite a while yet before she falls enough to let the rest of the field catch her. Also Kuroneko won't have a recent season 2 to work off next time. Becoming the ISML 2014 Champion and first repeat champion is a goal very much in reach for Kanade. Eucliwood has still got it. I think some people weren't happy with Eucliwood beating Misaka in Aquamarine 1 but this shows it wasn't a fluke. Even now Eucliwood feels like she's more popular than she really should be. However, she's clearly verified her level of power time and again. Maybe if she gets a season 3 soon, she might be able to challenge Kuroneko and Kanade someday. If Misaka would just bring in the extra power we know she has in every match, another championship win is possible. However, until this day comes we'll probably keep seeing Misaka with high finishes but no new Tiaras. Overall it doesn't seem like she benefited too much from Railgun season 2. She may be reaching the limit of her base power level. She'll still be a strong force for many years to come, though. People have been down on Nova's performances but Mashiro really is very strong. Looking at all of her performances, it looks like she just had a bad match against Eucliwood which was unfortunate. Even though she finishes in fifth, Mashiro could be the third strongest character right now. She definitely competitive with Mikoto and Eucliwood and I'd be tempted to pick Mashiro if she faced one of those two. Unfortunately, Kuroneko and Kanade are just too powerful for her. If those two drastically fell in strength, Mashiro would definitely be in the running for a Tiara. Also, maybe if Sakurasou gets a season 2, Mashiro could rise it to make it an Elite three who stand above everyone else. Ayase has been really enjoyable to watch all year. Tier 7? There aren't even 6 characters in both divisions who are stronger than her! Her story has ended along with her series so this is likely the best she'll ever do. Hopefully she manages to stay strong next year. Unfortunately, she probably isn't the type of character who can maintain a high level of strength for years on end without new material. Maybe she'll surprise me. She's already done that a dozen times or more. A disappointing year for Asuna considering the inital hype. She was supposed to be the strongest character from the previous year and perhaps even be a serious challenger for Kanade. Neither of these things turned out to be true. 7th place isn't bad, though. Sword Art Online has more material that I'm sure will be animated eventually. Maybe Asuna can improve on this rank in the future. 4-6-7-8. Very slowly Azusa is slipping down the ranks. It's just downhill for here from here as K-On gets older. I'm happy to see she's still doing quite well and hope she can do it for as long as she can. For large parts of the regular season, Rikka looked like she might be in the running for the strongest character in Nova. It didn't really pan out for her and her postseason wasn't too great. Fortunately for her, Chuunibyou season 2 has already been confirmed. Maybe she can use it to catapult herself up the rankings next year. Not much to say on Kuroyukihime. She's looked like a strong but not quite #1 Nova character for the whole year. That's pretty much how she finishes as well. Accel World season 2 is always a possibility. She's got a chance to improve her rank as well. 7-6-5-4-11? It's been years but time may finally be catching up to Taiga. Being able to grow in strength without any new material wasn't going to last forever and it seems to be coming to an end. While Taiga still looked quite good in the regular season, she was faultering quite a bit in the playoffs. Her regular season self would have been able to manage 6th or 7th instead of the 11th place she got in the end. Unfortunately, Taiga will just fall from here. Taiga did great these last few years and should be proud of her achievements. It'll still be sad to see Taiga slowly fade away. From 14th to 12th, Kobato improves slightly from last year. Sena manages 16th place two years in a row. Nanami in 13th and Inori in 15th are mostly just happy to be in the playoffs. Everyone here will need some luck if they want to make it back to the combined finals next year. Kirino in 14th is a bit disappointing when Ayase is 6th and Kuroneko is 1st. Kirino really didn't have a very good postseason despite looking quite good at the end of the regular season. I expected her to be closer to 7th or 8th instead of 14th. This year was probably her best shot at having a good performance so it's too bad she didn't do that well. That's my thought on everyone for now. Congrats again to Kuroneko on winning and everyone else for even making it to the top 16! __________________ A miracle that you believe in when you know it won't happen......... is hope.
