It makes sense, though. I'm more surprised that we may not see Yumeha and Kuzuha.

Maybe they'll do more Lite episodes.

I'd rather prefer "How to date a chuunibyou girl" for educational puropose you know.

Sad to hear that Yuuta's family get even lesser screen time.

It's a first season compilation movie from Rikka's point of view (with some new stuff to fill it out).

Discuss it here.

-They plan to depict "How do you fall in love with a chuunibyou girl" in S2.
-Originally, S2 was to start around New Year's Day, but now it'll start around March.
-Compared to S1, S2 will have a more comfortable progression of time (umx note: ie, no random month timeskips).
-There may be replacement of characters and setting changes.
-Kuzuha and Yumeha may not appear at all. Touka's also really difficult to fit in.
-There's no plan to touch on the relationship between Rikka and her family. While things still aren't well with her grandfather, they don't plan to pursue that route.
-Kumin's family accidentally appeared.
-They want to introduce new character(s) without it getting muddled or turning into a love triangle. It's supposed to be a laid-back chuunibyou comedy.
-Right now, they think it's fine for ZAQ and the circle to sing the OP/ED respectively.
Expanding more from the episode 13 event, here's what Ishihara commented:
The events will take place after episode 13, around spring-to-summerish.
Everyone's gone up a grade, so Deko is now a high schooler, but Kumin will still be around.
Isshiki's hair has grown a bit, but he replied "no comment" in regards to another hair-cutting event.
Rikka and Dekomori are still chuuni.
The new character will be the one from the second novel.
Touka will be coming back at times.
Broadcast season is still a secret.

If the movie comes out in September then it is very likely that the 2nd season comes out next year the earliest. I wish they didn't announce the new season so early cause the wait is killing me.

They say 1/3 of the movie is planned to be new material and the final portion will lead to the 2nd season.

An article posted on MSN today revealed that the second season will use the second novel as a base like the first season used the first novel as a base. Again, the new character in the second novel will appear in the second season.

I think the key is the failed Middle School Confession scene. It might seem that such a scene would contradict the second LN - on the other hand, if they are going the no-drama route, there are quite alot of interesting ret-cons they can make.

No-drama? With KyoAni? I find that hard to believe actually

Highlights from the interview with Tatsuya Ishihara in the volume 3 of Cloud_G magazine regarding Chuunibyou season 2:
-When the recording ended for the first season, we announced to the cast that "we're doing a second season."
-In the first season we made Rikka appear really pitiful, so we may treat her a bit better in the second season.
-It's still unknown how big of a presence Shichimiya will get in the second season.
-The four female leads have formed a solid group; I'm really worried about whether or not we can add a new actress to that group.
-Regarding who to play Shichimiya: That character hasn't been fully determined yet, so we don't have any idea.
-The Invisible Horizion probably still exists now, but instead of representing Rikka's father's death, it's not serious anymore.
-Dekomori's hair hasn't changed much. There may be a little bit changed.
-The other characters are fundamentally the same as before.

No drama? At all? But was what made Chuuni so good and special! Don't water it down to another comedy.

I can't imagine they'll phase out the drama completely, they'll probably just tone it down (no more dead parent issues).

Wrong, drama was weakest part of this anime.

I thought the drama was okay, but I'll admit I liked the comedy parts more, so a more comedic tone for the new season would be quite wlecome IMO.

I do expect some drama, but it's probably not gonna be as heavy as it was in the first season, since Rikka accepted her father's death and Yuuta came to terms with who she is now and that forcing her to change won't make her a better person.

The only real problem he has now is, how to date a girl who is severely delusional? Even if he has first-hand experience, I'm sure there are still some things even he needs to find out on his own.

i don't mind not having drama. do you think she is still SEVERELY delusional? not quite in my opinion but there are tendencies

everyone's forgeting the yuri development and the weird girl who always sleeps
