"Mark This Forum Read" link suggestion
Before the forum upgrade, when you clicked on "Forum Tools" and then choose "Mark This Forum Read", it took you a directory backwards...hmmmm...I'm not sure how to fully explain this.
For example if you were in the Fansubs section and clicked on "Mark This Forum Read" it redirected you to the Anime section. Since the update, I've noticed that this doesn't happen. It just marks all the topics as read and leaves you where you were. I'm not sure how others feel about this, but I liked how it worked before the update(because after you mark a forum read, you don't really have anything else to do there and want to move on <= well, this is my thinking anyway). Any opinions on this???

And I suspect the new operation (where it remains in the existing forum) might be a bug fix (or at least a change due to popular demand). Mind, I'm only making an assumption here. Really need to ask the vB people. |

The new version of the forum software uses something called AJAX to mark threads as read.
The A in AJAX stands for Asynchronous, meaning it asks the server to make the thread/forum read without leaving the page. We may be able to restore the previous functionality at a template level -- I'll look into it. Edit: Yup it is "fixable"... Last edited by NightWish; 2006-10-24 at 06:11. |

That would require a code change, so probably won't happen. However, I am happy to put the "return to parent forum view" functionality back... if there is a demand for it... and the other staff don't come up with objections.
