I came watching this show expecting nothing but a premise about a boy who got stuck in a virtual reality, what I got instead is a gender-reversed Selector infected WIXOSS, only with fighting personas instead of personified cards. The protagonist wasn't bad, he had a good amount of charisma in himself and his talking dog looked kind of cute even with his synthetized voice. Nothing much happened so far and the characters' personalities are vague as hell, however I'm actually expecting a rather dark story that go behind the theme involving the war between thugs' personas inside the virtual reality realm. I don't like the theme songs, on the other spectrum the music was good but forgettable at best. We'll see where it goes, since it serves itself as a great replacement for WIXOSS as I'll watch it during summer.

Been waiting for this one.
Even decided to hold off of playing VN until I've seen the anime.
The main characters look nice but it's not my first time seeing them ^^
The computer-pets are interesting, but their voices are too serious & deep.
Story is fine for this type of anime, didn't expect more, so it's all good.
Will be watching this.

I've got a question, for those, who knows about this VN: how er... explicit this anime will be? While I'd like to watch it because of the cast, I'm seriously not into yaoi territory, so it's a question of watching it or not for me.

I heard that the anime adaptation wouldn't be explicitly BL (maybe shounen with BL undertones? I don't know), but that's third-hand information (though I did watch a Lets Play that corresponded with the first episode material, and I must say, they condensed everything a lot, and one of the more violent characters got a pretty benign intro compared to the VN from what I hear).

From what I hear most thought it would follow the "True Route" at announcement, but now believe that it will follow a "Common Route" (I'm a bit fussy on the details). Since none of the characters are named True or Common (Trip and Virus ), I believe the info might be true.

If you're wondering about the VN itself, from the tumblr tags, the endings are explicit at the very least.

The anime won't show the sex scenes. But beside that... I can't guarantee, depends on which route they adapt.

And yes, the VN is R18 and pretty explicit (especially) in some routes.

Hm... I see. I guess I should simply give it a try for a couple of episodes. Hope it will be somewhat similar to "Akuma no Riddle" in that regard and everything will stay only on subtext level.

I'm watching this, as people kept telling me it actually has a good story. After TnC I have my reservations though. The story looks interesting, and so do the characters. But there's something off about the storytelling. I think it lacks a natural flow. For instance that flash to the fight while the MC was having dinner felt weird and out of place. But we'll see, it might get better once the story gets on the way.

Well... not so bad, I guess, but really not a whole lot to recommend it for me either. Frankly, I was kinda disinterested in most everything about the ep, though it was not horrible.

Maybe I will give the next ep a try, but... ah well. :\

Ren's route is generally referred to as the "true route" because it's the route where you find out the most information about Aoba and his past. The "common route" is the part of the game you play in the beginning that's pretty much the same for everyone until you branch off into each guys separate route.

It's kind of boring to have main guy going through the whole day and meet every single character who will be in the show. But still I shall watch more in hope that this be BL. I already want more screen time between main guy and kimono guy. Young Aoba looks so cute.

This actually turned out to be better than I thought. I'll stick around for a few episodes anyway...I seriously wasn't expecting an actual plot after what i've read about this on tumblr.

the MC is basic but I liked the doggie/avatar guy. And the Samurai hairdresser looks like he'll be a hoot.

Not sure what you've seen on tumblr, but the game has an actual plot. One I quite enjoyed personally.

The first episode adapted the early parts of the game quite well. We pretty much get to meet all the players, standard fair at this point. Personally, the first part/common route of the game isn't as interesting to me, especially when you take out Aoba's musings and inner dialogue, which we probably won't get a whole lot of considering.
