The only problem with tools like that is that we generally tend to make stuff here cutting close to the limit.
Machine-like thinking just can't get it right at the moment. ^^ I'm not saying they can't get it small enough, I'm saying they can't get the quality/size ration just right. e.g. ( in that one you gave as a example ) I would have left dither at 100%. Sure I pay a heavy price in colors but I don't want to see those blocks in the background. Actually I might have just picked a red there and brushed a little to save some colors from extinction. Maybe done the same for the white there. Were those kids are in awe and almost standing still for the first few frames, I might have copy pasted that pose so its the same ( since they're not really moving much ) Would have saved a few extra colors ~maybe. Would have probably cut a few frames as he's accelerating up the jump for some extra drama. Again saving some colors. I can always mess with the timing of earlier scenes to compensate. etc etc etc

I'm seeking help in learning how to make signatures using PS. Yes, I have look at the first page of this thread and I'm not too sure on where to start off reading.
For example, should i read rendering images or cutting images or whats the difference between them etc. I just want to read it in an order people would advise. I do not have basics of PS but I'm a keen learner, just manage to find some time during summer to learn something I'm interested in. I hope someone can guide me along and er...looking forward to learn from you guys! |

PS is pretty easy when you understand the concept of layers and how the work ~ together with the tools ~ i guess you will just have to try everything out once to see how it works or search on the net good luck ^.^

To make a sig, first you need to have a render with no BG .. so, unfortunately, you'll have to start with my tutorial to cut out render like DK advice (or Dragonwing's) .. Quickmask is very newbie friendly ^^, then you can advanced to BG making, with filters .. then brushing .. then c4d.
Or you can start like Cyz.. Cropping from wallpaper , Once you look trough Cyz's work, you'll notice that cropping is an art by itself Maybe we should ask Cyz to make a tutorial on cropping.. He have the eyes for it

This is more banner related... adding clouds on a gradient image and allowing for a seemless transition at the borders.
Tutorial placed in a spoiler because of large images (that might affect the forums layout) Spoiler for Tutorial Clouds+Gradient:

Hi again ,
Some of my friends on Animesuki have asked my to do a tut on how I do these avies. First of all open up an image that you want to make into these avies. For this tut I'll being using this Nao picture Get the crop tool and select the area where you want to have in the avatar. After this go to. Image-Image size 100X100 or you desired resoultion. You should now have something like this. Now make a NEW layer and make sure it is under the picture. So you still see the picture, but there is a white layer under neath the picture layer. After this has been done select the picture layer and you see where it has options like Opacity and there is something that says Normal. Go to that bar and find overlay and select it. If you've done all the steps right so far it should look like this. BUT you will need a colour for the brushes to show up like the ones I showed you and the very beg. of this tut. I like to have the characters hair colour since it usually blends well. At this point you should now have a colour of your choice and have the brush tool selected as your current tool. Before you go on you should go to Deviantart and download Icon brushes. Icon Brushes Once you've found your favourite brushes download it and select it through the brush options. Note: I'm not going through how to download brushes etc.* Find the brush/es you just download and select it. Now Zoom in on your picture and find the area you'd like to put the brush. Reminder you must of selected the White layer NOT the picture layer. So contuine doing this to you're happy with you're results. Finish it up with a border and Save as a PNG, JPG or GIF. and you should have something like this Well I hope this tut can help some people. Enjoy but most of all Good-luck!~

Drawing clouds is one of the many other ways... well uh... if you have these decent cloud brushes of course (which I don't have ^^') Uh, because I want to add to the selection localy not globaly. The difference in the result is hard to explain without going too techy (which I have absolutely no intend to find translations for in english... sry )
