There is something disturbing about a hospital with that name.

Another picture she posted in June shows her posing in a video game character’s costume at the Anime Central convention for so-called “Otaku” or anime megafans in Chicago.

One of the discussion panels at the convention addressed “the dysfunctional elements of the Otaku Subculture,” including male megafans who had trouble relating to women and acted out violently against them, according to the convention’s website.

Aside from her completely unfunny situation (WHY was this posted in the "funny news"????) ... obviously Resurrection Hospital is a spawn point and she was lucky there were no "campers".

Frankly, the anime fan community needs to come down hard and fast on these outliers and nutcases. Zero tolerance for misogyny (and for idiots who think it belongs in funny news )

I'd say most people who watch anime (and consider themselves a fan) at some point are unorthodox thinkers (myself included). Generally this just means they don't fit the average mold... but it also means there are probably a higher percentage of weirdos like this guy among our ranks. I'm not really sure it is a solvable problem.

I'd say this guy is probably one of the more extreme cases, but I'd say too that these cases are rare.

Nonetheless, when something like this happens, the newspapers don't care about public policy to post a critical and fair article, they are looking to print news by the pound for a silver from a sterling. Cheap news are cheap news - that is why newspaper revenues are dropping.

And I think the pathetic-ness and overly simple way such an article is written (just what happened, all the negative case-in-points with no expert psychologists' counter arguments to that last line), it merits a place in this thread.

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

That is because the news are reporting it more often than not. Have you ever seen an article glorifying the creativity shown by the people of 2ch/NicoNicoDouga through MMD, Touhou songs and Vocaloid? Even article like how the gamers solve the DNA protein strand puzzle in 10 days are pretty rare.

Journalists these days are either a bunch of overly-optimistic cheerleaders, or a stack of sad gunny sacks. Must be their advertisers haranguing them for more readership.

Drama makes for better ratings.

The guy is a grade A moron though. Thing is, crazy like that is pretty deep rooted, maybe something he went through when he was younger like his mum not hugging him or something, or what he saw others do. I don't agree with what he did, and I find that many of the things 'otaku' do to be cringe worthy but I still can't help but read articles like that and liken it to the crap gamers get tossed on them because of a few bad eggs (*clear throat, Fox News voice* A man who robbed a bank and ran over his neighbours dog said he would have performed these acts earlier today if he wasn't busy playing GTA.). I'm probably wrong, but it always seemed to me that if you were a fan of anime or manga and you mentioned that to anyone you were slapped with that lable. Maybe It's just a subset it actually applies too but it still reflects badly on everyone.

Could be worse, they could make news of what happen on the TV channel than happen to be own by the same group than their newspaper...

but on a serious note... yeah, this could've end up like the American version of Tsutomu Miyazaki. Now this is the scariest worst-case scenario

So you are going to say that reality is subjective next?

Like how BL is ethicaly unacceptable in the eyes of an ordinary girl, while beautiful in the eyes of a fujoshi?

Semantics-wise, I would say that would be correct.

And the ultimate lulz for the Bunch of Asses -

Bank of America to charge debit card use fee

Stupid is what stupid does.
