Blade Dance didn't even get to the Blade Dance. When you only have 12 episodes to work with, isn't it better to make something that's enticing even if it doesn't end properly as opposed to something rushed and often terrible?

bad comparison. The blade dance arc starts at the 4th volume and ends at at the 11th festa starts in volume 3 and ends at 5. lets ignore the fact that 2 volumes in 12 wouldnt work for this series. You'd need round 30 episodes to cover the whole blade dance properly u could condense it into 24 safely.

However in theory you could do the festa in around 10. plus the first 3 volumes of BD were world building of sorts

Hey guys I really need to know! Is the main protagonist really actually a badass in this one, unlike all the other wimpy teenage MCs out there?????

i'm not gonna answer that and nobody else should for three reasons 1. There is a light novel out there so you can read it for yourself and determine that. 2. See reason 1. 3. See reason 1.

Seems like what is killing these LN adaptation is the inability to do 16-18 episode series due to timing and budget constraints. Another possibility is perhaps jumping right into the arc that covers volumes 3-5, and build the important material in into the arc via flashbacks or transplanted scenes. I mean, it's not like we REALLY need to see another overdone beginning of the main character going to a new school and meeting all the girls one by one right? If the adaptation is good people will check out the LN's and read the original take anyways.

In media res does sound like a very viable thing short 1 cour adaptions should use. Though I imagine that it would take a skilled series composition person to properly put in the backstory. And that sort of talent is hard to find.

ImperialFlameGod, I understand why you tell people to read the LNs rather than coming here asking about the stuff...
But do you believe everyone does have the time and/or patience to go check every single story one gets curious about?
There may be those who may be being lazy, true, but it doesn't mean that everyone is the in the same boat, you know?

I, for one, have a few LNs in backlog but I simply don't find the chance to read them, specially when I'm in the process of revamping my once-finished LN-style novel series...

As of late, you've been rather negative about everything and their mother, and it's getting tiresome seeing you like that.
Maybe you should pay some heed to the other lurkers' advices and take a break from Anime, if it's being so bad for you...

I wont be taking a break anytime soon but i'm glad you're so worried about my negativity. However i'm also aware that people can make the time if they want to. He's not a wimp like other MC's thats simple to say but lets face it he could read it find out for himself then be done with it. I've been a bit harsh recently so i'll try to relax with that

now that i thought about it, the fact that they showed this at sakuracon means they may release a dub of it out, which= a good chance that the LN may be licensed if many people like it!!!! NNNNOOOO~!!!. LN release take forever here T_T
