ITA on this one. While the first two seasons pretty much focused on Zuko in terms of change, while the Aang Gang had a set goal and was headed towards it, S3 is becoming more focused on Aang's character growth as Zuko finally finds himself.

Spoiler for Book 3, Episode 13...just so I don't get yelled at:

I'm not sure why it didn't hit me at the end of episode 11 that Zuko could become Aang's firebender teacher (maybe I was still too much into the fight) but wow, this is really getting exciting. I don't think that it's a disappointment at all. Sure, episode 13 didn't pack the punch as books 1 and 2, but it developed the plot in a whole new level. This means that this isn't just a mere action/adventure cartoon, but it also has drama, the kind that makes you want to watch more and enjoy the thrilling roller coaster ride.

It was actually a very sad episode. I was mostly on Zuko's side, but I do feel for the team, especially since Keitara was betrayed by Zuko when she thought she could trust him. In the end, everyone is still cold to him, but the team also feels uneasy. There is no win-win situation here, or at least, they will have to work together well to achieve that situation.

What's this about too much fanservice? There was one kiss and the scene lasted about a minute in episode 11 and people call it too much? I, for on, thought that the mood was perfect and if they were to kiss, that would really be the perfect time for it. But I do agree that it's supposed to be done in moderation and not excessively, meaning there should not be more kissy moments any time soon.

I really loved how Keitara's worries and feelings were portrayed in this episode. Her anger, I think, is more from worrying about Aang's safety than being bitter about what the fire nation did to her tribe. That, I think, is one of the subtle plot developments that exemplifies the characteristics of season three, and in my opinion, the reason why I like book three as much as the other two books. Typical action anime such as Naruto and Bleach suffers from overused motifs and an extended storyline. Avatar encompasses all genres and mixes them well, and if it ends at the end right time (which is rumored to be episode 51), then it would be the perfect animated series of its genre.

I love this show. I first saw it on Abc when I accidentaly woke up at 6:30 am.

The show is very touching and I like it alot, I recommend it to all as it trulely is a great series as you grow on the characters and watch their growth.

I don't think it's that. He seems immature in Book 3 compared to in Book 2. Book 2, he showed responsibility and his mature side when he had life changing decisions. This one, it feels like the producers were really lazy and decided to show alot of fanservice such as:

Zuko is too weak to be the Avatar's teacher. Zuko's uncle would be a better match.

I dont think so, Zuko is can get stronger, even stronger then his uncle with time. I think that Zuko will be the one that teaches Aang

Zuko is by no means weak. He learned the lessons his uncle tought him and bested his father. He and Sokka have grown the most in strength of all the characters, in fact.

Aang has always had a huge sense of responsibility as the Avatar, and in book 2 his confidence as well as (SPOILER) his avatar state were stripped form him. His growth mentally in book 3 was about repairing what he had lost. His confidence in himself and his friends.

And the fanservices you stated could also be considered character growth on Aang's part. Well at least the first time would be. =P

Yes, it truly was epic. More Zuko than you could shake a stick at, and finally, the source of the theme music revealed.

Zuko and Aang make a solid team. Katara's snarky attitude towards Zuko is getting really old, really fast - putting her selfish anger ahead of the needs of the mission is rather pathetic. But when Aang finds out that romantic chemistry is the source of the tension between Katara and Zuko, things could get really ugly.

I also thought the Sun Warrior civilization was really interesting. Their symbols and statues were straight out of Tibetan animist Buddhism, but the temples and clothes were the original Sun Warriors - Aztecs.

Wow, that WAS good. The third season still got it. I was actually very emotional for some parts of it.

It was a big, big moment to see Aang and Zuko finally "dance" together (no yaoi meaning intended). In many ways Zuko is the one who can understand Aang better than anyone - he's the descendant of an Avatar himself, and someone who has lost in his own wilderness for many years. In contrast to Katara's overt hostility - Sokka's seems more in the vein of his traditional cynic/smartass persona - Aang sensed from the beginning that his partnership with Zuko was fated to be. I still feel the last great emotional barricade will be Aang and Zuko's feelings for Katara - it will be the last (and greatest) wedge to drive them into opposing camps again, and perhaps Aang's final test in choosing the spirit world over the physical and his avatar self over his physical self. But in all, Zuko and Aang's travels have been leading them to each other from the beginning, so all of this had to happen eventually. It's just nice to see our patience rewarded now that it actually is.

I think that the cloths and temples of the Sun Warriors are a mix of Aztecs, Mayans and I belive Incas. The main temple seems like the Sun's piramid at Teotihuacan and a round temple looks like a temple from Tenochtitlan.

About Aang, Katara and Zuko I think that in the next episode things will move forward, I agree that Katara's attitude is getting boring. Maybe the relationship between them could be like Arthur, Guenivere and Lancelot; although Katara and Zuko seems to me like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.

The thing that bothers me about the show is that water bending is nowhere near as powerful as it could be. If it was realistic, water benders could just rip all the water out of someones noby, killing them instantly. But that would make it too OP and "too grotesque for American children to watch".

Well I'm not sure if you got there yet but bloodbending is technically there, but only under a full moon. I do realize that there is water not only in blood but also organs and such, but the series acts as though the human body is a barrier that chi/chakra can pass through, unless you want it. It is known that in Avatar world, chi/chakra can be blocked (note: Ty Lee's abilities) by hitting certain points in the body, stopping its flow. Therefore, the human body could be a viable defense against this intrusion. But of course, when there is a full moon, supposedly a water bender can get past that barrier.

Of course what I said is solely based on inferred information and opinions.

I don't think he was a descendant of the an avatar, not to our knowledge at least. He was the grandson of Fire Lord Sozin, who was avatar Roku's "best/jerk" friend.
On another note, I don't believe Aang and Zuko will have a quarrel over a love affair... it's nickelodeon, but that would be expecting something; I'll just watch with open eyes. But seriously, Aang and Zuko really seem to work very well together. This episode was very fun to watch. Sad to see the end coming up so fast.
